We visited on a Saturday lunch, which due to events in the city we were the only table apart from another two who were dining.

Staff were friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. They were attentive and not pushing or too over bearing.

The menu had a good variety it was hard to actually decide on what to have! The bread was Devine, we all had a starter, main and dessert.

Wow.

The food was so good, fully of flavour, cooked to perfection and the presentation was stunning.

Would definitely go back for dinner and see what the service would be like with a busier restaurant. Nevertheless it was worth every penny and would recommend.

My husband arranged a surprise birthday party for me at Lovage where they had to mass cater for for our guests. They provided the most delicious meal for our guests which was consistent with the very high standard of food we always have received at Lovage. Every fillet steak was cooked to perfection and came with the most wonderful side dishes. The starters were perfect and the sous chef made the most delicious fresh cakes for our celebration. I’ve had wonderful feedback from my guests with some even saying it was the best meal they have had in their life. Service was excellent and nobody’s glass went empty all night. Special thanks for my Margarita which was ready for me on arrival … clearly my reputation precedes me! Thank you for making my special birthday a memorable one 🥂

The food at Lovage is simply divine! It somehow gets better every time we visit. The staff are genuinely lovely, the ambience is spot on, and the chef isn’t afraid to be bold, serving up dishes that are true masterpieces in both flavour and presentation. Honestly, they should get a Michelin star for the wild halibut and sea bass main dishes alone!

Visited this beautiful restaurant for the first time last night and had a fantastic meal. The service was absolutely excellent too. The menu offers an amazing selection of locally sourced produce, cooked to perfection! Thoroughly recommend the lobster starter and the venison main course! Every detail about the presentation was superb and meticulously constructed. There was an excellent wine list to choose from, with a good selection of wines served by the glass as well which makes a change from only offering ‘house wine’! The ambience in the restaurant was warm and inviting but with a modern contemporary decor. A wonderful evening - we will be back!

Three of us had a very good lunch at Lovage. We all had the set lunch menu at £30 pp for three courses and enjoyed the food very much along with a couple of bottles of wine and coffees. The only thing that detracted and the reason I only gave four stars for atmosphere was how noisy the restaurant was due to a very large group of male diners at a table near us. We had to shout to make conversation but once the group left things improved. The service was not the most welcoming - I booked online for 1.00 but they said it was for 12.00 but they had a few free tables anyway - it felt like the visit didn't get off to a good start.The service was prompt between courses but just not exactly warm and inviting. The interior is very simple and modern.The standard of food was very good and will definitely go back ( hopefully less noise the next time).

We had an amazing meal at Lovage - the food was delicious and the staff were very attentive. My daughter is a vegetarian and asked about a veggie option. She was given a full vegan menu to choose from. Can't fault the place

Fantastic dining experience - great service, fabulous tasting food, very interesting choices in food and drink, relaxing ambience in a tastefully decorated space. We went to celebrate a birthday and as a party that was part vegetarian and the rest which ate meat, we all thoroughly enjoyed the choices we made. The vegetarian choices were superb, carefully crafted and elevated in taste as well as presentation unlike many restaurants which treat the vegetarian options as an afterthought !

The choice of small plates and snack plates to choose a starter from is a superb idea as you can definitely try a dessert too. Portion size for me were perfect but some may find them a little on the small size. Good value for money as I understood the effort to create some of these dishes.

We would highly recommend Lovage in Jesmond and will certainly return . The chef certainly understands flavour combinations , loves his or her craft, and celebrates ingredients. Compliments to the chef!
