After loosing my Mum just over a year ago my Dad who had been Married to Mum 64 years and together 71 years as you would expect was devastated and for a while kept saying he wanted to be with her.
As a family Mum brought everyone together so it was a total shock to everyone and seeing Dad so down and didn't really know how to handle things.
I had taken Dad to the Sheerness branch (Day Centre) a couple of months after loosing Mum and spent an hour or so with him to see if he liked it but being his mood was so low at the time he said it was too soon after loosing mum and decided that he didn't want to go.
After a while I was put in contact with Age UK Leysdown, managed to get Dad to go and see what he thought and have not looked back since.
Dad goes twice a week Wednesday (Sheerness) and Friday (Leysdown). He gets a lovely home cooked meal, is entertained, goes on days out with them, picked up and dropped back home safely and even has his nails cut every 6 weeks.
I dropped Dad off once after a doctors appointment and was so happy to see Dad getting on with everyone.
To all the staff at Leysdown and Sheerness thank you for everything you do for my Dad and everyone that attends your day centres you put my mind at rest knowing my Dad is being well looked after.
I have to say a special thanks to Marian who calls me to update me on any trips/things that are going on.
