Neglect is a massive issue, my father was in this care home for nearly 5 years, on the day he passed away he fell and was left on the floor with a resident comforting him from 4am - 7am until the staff change over. As the night carer never knew what to do. My dad sadly passed away at 10.40pm that night. I cannot put into words of what I've seen within this carehome, and reported to CQC with proof of videos and photos included. It's also the really good staff that do suffer there aswell, its so very poorly staffed. The list goes on what I can actually write, it's heart breaking. You can imagine how me and my mother and brother felt. We have never heard anything since my dad passing away from the care home. I can only rate this 1 star, that only goes to the lovely staff that cared for my dad during the day that was only a few. We placed my dad in this care home because it was previously Blue Anchor Pub before hand. Its where my dad met my mum for the first time. It's just so sad that a beautiful care home needs so much hard work doing to be able to rectify all its downfalls. I'm actually suprised it's not been closed down tbh. The residents also need proper care 24/7, activities good hot meals.

My grandma received a range of care whilst staying here for three years. There are some genuine carers/seniors who go above and beyond. Unfortunately, there were numerous safeguarding concerns regarding neglect, which management didn't take seriously. Care staff weren't held accountable by the management team, which meant that the issues continued. The dementia unit is too big/busy, which means there is very little interaction. Residents are left in the lounge with no engagement or, sometimes, supervision. Residents do become physical with each other, which results in them becoming hurt. I've seen residents becoming upset by this, and no reassurance or comfort was given. Sadly, we had to move my grandma to a different care home due to no improvements.

Removed my mother inlaw due to the bad management from the management team, greedy owners who will not staff the home correctly. My mother inlaw was wearing clothes covered in mould which when moving her out of the home I discovered a draw full of mouldy clothes. The latest cqc report published from emergency visit in June/July 2021 is shameful. The owner needs to stop putting profits over care and staff moral.

My brother-in-law, who requires nursing care, has been a resident at Alexandra Court for the past 7 years. During this period both my wife and I have in general been highly satisfied with the care and attention provided by both the staff and local management.

The home is purpose-built providing individual ensuite rooms which are kept clean and tidy. There are also excellent communal lounges and dining facilities. Normally, although obviously limited during the Covid-19 pandemic, activities or external visits are held daily, some of which involve residents' families, e.g. the choir, flower arranging, etc.

From our very first search for suitable care facilities, Alexandra Court stood out above the others, as a very friendly and caring residence, with excellent, facilities, activities and care staff. Yes of course there is occasionally room for improvements, but on the very infrequent care concerns we have experienced, either personal or organisational, we have had no problem in raising any issues with the relevant staff and in all such cases we have been satisfied with the agreed actions undertaken to improve the service.

I was therefore somewhat disappointed to see the comments raised by one reviewer, since this critical comment has certainly not been our experience at Alexandra Court and in my opinion not typical of the normally excellent level of care.

Very shocked and disappointed after a family member recently stayed in this care home

During my first visit I stayed for just over an hour, during this hour an elderly woman had asked to go to the toilet repeatedly for the entire hour I was there. She kept been told there was no one to take her because they where busy doing other things, handing out biscuits was one reason given while the poor ladie had to sit there waiting desperately

Some of the more ill people where been ignored or brushed off when all it seemed they wanted was conversation or reassurance

I understand it must be a difficult Job but on a human level I found it shocking and disgusting to leave people in such a state when there where so many carers working at the time

One star given is because I'm sure they are some genuinely nice workers here that are giving there all but I didn't see much of that and for the price of the home I find it even more shocking to have seen what I did

My dad stayed here for around 5 months. Dad had a few problems with his temper & moved to another home which was more suited for his needs. Staff are very approachable & would ring to let us know if they were any problems.
