I would like to thank Ann Marie (aka Davina) for arranging a very special reunion for two of the residents, Nan and Bronwyn. They are cousins who have not been in contact for many, many years: along with Lynne, Bronwyn’s daughter, I was invited to the reunion and it was quite emotional. Lynne had brought along a splendid family tree - which she had been working on for some years - and for Nan, my mum, it brought back many memories, and triggered many questions. The kitchen staff treated us to some dainty and delicious cakes, scones and sandwiches, which was very kind of them. Unfortunately, we were all so busy talking that we didn’t really do justice to the lovely spread…In my experience, this is why the staff at Millfield excel: if they think that something will give the residents pleasure, the staff will go out of their way to achieve that. I think that this is borne out by the ‘Palava’ magazine: so many different activities, and so many happy faces among the residents. The stimulus provided by the care team is truly outstanding, (witness the Pink day) and I would like to say a special Thankyou to Shelley, for her part in bringing fun and laughter into the lives of Millfield’s residents. Millfield was the final home for my brother Dilwyn. His family are indebted to the staff for treating him with such sensitivty and respect. Staff made themselves aware not only of his complex physical needs but got to know him as a character too and there was a lot of laughter and good fun. I felt reassured that he was in safe hands and never at risk. The home iteself is clean and bright and although run efficiently it has a homely feel to it.
There is a generous staff to client ratio and lots of activities.
I liked the fact that it is a charity and profits are ploughed back into the organisation.
I was back there in December to sing at the Christmas party. It was lovely to see so many members of staff who looked after Dilwyn. I will always be grateful to them and Anchor Millfield.

Lovely place, lovely hard working, caring staff, spotlessly clean and the meals smell good too ❤️. Our dad has properly thrived since being in Millfield the past 12 months, definitely made the right choice when we moved him last year

A friend of my became a resident at Millfield in September .She said she never wanted to go in a care home.She now says it is not like a care home and says it is like staying in a 5 star hotel.She says all the staff are lovey,the food is excellent and her room is beautifully furnished.All the staff at Millfield provide excellent care .
