I just moved out of Portland House yesterday, and it was a great relief. Why? Because on the 12th floor, where I was, the ceiling has exposed pipes and wires, so it's a hazard. They said they had it checked, and it passed, but that's bullshit; no safety inspector in good conscience would deem that safe. Pioneer won't even cover them up!
The flat are adequate, I guess, but the buildings are a dilapidated throwback from the Sixties.
The lifts are always breaking down, and if you leave items for other tenants to use, instead of throwing them away to end up in a landfill, in their very spacious lobbies on the floors outside the lift, they say it's a fire hazard, despite said things are kept well away from the doors and no one can trip on them.
Oh, and Nature forbid that you actually use the rubbish chute rooms for actual rubbish - you get some pathetic anal retentive giving you a hard time, even though I never did that (I took I downstairs, like we're supposed to), accusing you if doing it, like he did yesterday morning.
They tar everyone with the same brush, thinking we've all got pets, or using the property for illegal purposes by yearly 'tenancy visits', which are actually Big Brother type spying on people, despite it saying in the tenancy agreement that we have 'the right to occupy'. Which is also bullying, because that is an invasion of privacy. I have never heard of a housing association doing this before. Jigsaw Homes never did that - as long as you pay your rent on time, and didn't cause trouble, they leave you alone.
When I finish university in three years' time, I fully intend to apply to Jigsaw Homes, unless I earn enough to buy a house.
So, in conclusion, avoid Ashton Pioneer Homes like the plague.

In this day and age, you don't expect to go around a family member and find the walls covered in many varieties of mould and fungi. Or is this the normal from social ⁰housing. Even after it has caused many health problems in the young and vulnerable people. But I suppose you are the standards you walk by. I think I will send the photos to a tabloid and see what happens.

West end is great. I have a friend who I look after, who lives here, so I spend quite a lot of time in West end.. The place is wonderful. The flats are Great. Everything works, it's very secure, quiet and peaceful. A great neighborhood, with several shops close by, near enough to Ashton town centre for it to be ok to walk to, but far enough away From the "Friday/Saturday night crowd". Staff are all great. AND the lifts work!!! (Big plus, in a tower block!!) 10/10.

Lived here since 2000, first in a high-rise now in a house with my family. Never had a problem. Great neighbourhood to chose to live in. They also have a fantastic Community Base with an I.T Suite. Coffee Mornings, Social Groups and Community Events for all.
