After seeing how it works at the drug projects in Camden, London and Coventry, I can honestly say that Bristol Drug Project is by far the worst. By far. Their goal is to make themselves feel good, I'm assuming, because it certainly isn't helping the addicts. On the contrary, making one's life more difficult by not delivering scripts just before the weekend and not answering phone calls is what I observed to be their forte. If you check some (not all, let's be fair !) employees on LinkedIn, you'll find very little useful experience, although you may find people with banking background, which is kinda fitting. Because just like the bank, BDP only seems to care about one thing, and it ain't you, illicit chemicals consumers of Bristol. Ticking off the boxes in the paperwork, NOW THAT is different story.
I end with the feeling BDP leaves me with - Kafkaesque. Bureaucracy wins.

Friendly staff, non judgemental. They are somewhat naive when it comes to certain substances and it can be very chaotic when problematic clients are there otherwise it would get 5 stars. Also 'The Loop' service is kinda useless as they will test your drugs but by law can't tell you what is in them that are adulterating them.

If you get the right support worker things are easy going but for the most part across the entire recovery sector the staff can be quite bigoted and often make life harder for the service user

Attended Naloxone training here and was greeted warmly, had an engaging trainer who involved all the group (from various organisations and services, most who'd never met before), and left feeling confident and reassured. Very happy with the service provided.

The most caring group of people I've ever met.
They point out that what I want is NOT what I need/is best for me . However they don't push people into doing anything. They care enough to support people while we learn how to cope with lifes ups and downs. Not saints but definitely a caring group of people
