Cannot rate the home enough, I know from past staff and residents that the home was very run down, but since the new management have started in July 2017 the home has come on leaps and bounds. It is hard to find a nursing home that has that such a homely feel, but beech tree does. The staff are very caring and are always willing to help wherever they can, I have noticed that the home does not have a certian β€˜smell’ anymore and is always fresh and clean. They have events throughout the year which are open to all the public, which is great to see the community get involved! If you are looking for somewhere for a loved one to spend their best years then I would highly recommend Beech Tree.

My dad is staying here for a while. The actual carers are lovely. But my dad is spending far too much time alone in his room, and most often in bed. Management border on hostile.

If a relative is compos mentis, able to eat and drink with no mobility problems it has a comfortable feel in comparison to some, though grubby. Although deemed a nursing home able to care for patients with nursing needs and dementia, it doesn't.

The carers in the main are obliging and affable but resources are limited and so is their time.

As my father's needs increased, he was neglected ie refusal of food with no supplements or alternative tempting food offered until I intervened. Difficult moods, due to his dementia; he was left unkempt with straggly hair, dirty nails, nasal and ear hair vastly overgrown. Many occasions I found him lying in a wet bed.

The room was seldom cleaned thoroughly and movement of furniture would reveal old food, litter etc. The leg of my father's armchair had mould growing around the foot where it had been stood in spillages in the chair raiser for months. Upon lifting his chair cushion there was food down the sides and a urine stained base.

If you live local and can pop in daily to ensure your relative is being cared for you might want to consider this home.

My sister made a visit during lockdown that was pre arranged but staff had forgotten, they informed my sister our mum was still in bed at 1pm they bought her to window unkempt and long uncut toenails. Also scab on top of her hand and carer was not using PPE.
Reporting neglect to CQC Dreadful.
