I would not recommend this council at all!!!!
They are the worst housing provider I've ever come across!
I am wanting to move closer to work, as I work in the Bolsover district and my job is permanent and I've been in the same job for over 2 years now. I have provided them with a copy of my contract which also states the address of my employer. I got reply back for them to say that this is not good enough for me to move into the area.
I disagree with this decision. I went online to try and fight against this decision, but there was nothing on the Bolsover council website for me to fight against the decision.
So I reapplied again and then I got another reply back, this time basically saying, you've already got somewhere to live, so we are not going to help you.
This attitude is the worst I've ever come across. They can't even be bothered to read applications correctly and then put people on the housing list.
People like this need to be sacked and never be employed again!!!!
I would definitely recommend that everyone avoids this so called council like the plague, because they clearly can't be bothered to do their jobs correctly and give out any excuse not to give you a property.
Oh, and their attitude stinks!!!!!!

Wouldn’t recommend. I tried to contact rents but was greeted by a rude woman. She spoke with an attitude towards me and spoke over me several times, when I tried to ask why call back hadn’t been upheld she snapped and said “I’m not getting into an argument with you” and when I tried to speak, she hung up on me. I rang back, a woman named Jodie answered the phone, at this point I was crying from frustration, trying to articulate myself, To which Jodie hung up the phone. On the first initial two calls, I was crying but at no point was I abusive… but when I called back and Jodie answered again, I expressed more frustration. I honestly Jodie was someone who understood I had autism and needed extra time with these types of things but she let me down. Alice the rents manager told her to put the phone down on me. I then spoke to Lisa in customer service who managed to calm me down and raise a complaint. I had issues prior with Jodie a few years ago after she mocked/laughed at me and was later given a verbal warning for that. Alice and her staff in rents completely twisted the truth and made out it was all me, when none of it would have happened if that First Lady on rents hadn’t hung up for zero reason.
Lisa and Sharon in customer service are angels.

BDC management and Head should be so proud of their staff because really the whole team go out of their way to help us.

Not My Job.

I reported a felled tree blocking a road in Glapwell with the request that they pass on to the right department if not them.

I received a reply stating not their responsibility which is fair enough but the effort to reply to me was the same as forwarding to Derbyshire council. Not exactly joined up thinking or working smarter is it.

With regards to fly tipping and general litter control BDC have been extremely helpful.
24 hours after reporting fly tipping they have been in touch and dealt with the rubbish.
They have also been very helpful with providing me equipment for litter picking, collecting the litter and ensuring my safety while doing it.

I've lived in areas that are controlled by other councils (SCC & RMBC) and they seem to want no involvement whatsoever. The people I have spoken to at BDC have been incredibly helpful and sound very dedicated to making our surroundings a better place.

Experts in incompetence. Useless at everything. Never react to any reports. A complete and utter waste of time. If they closed tomorrow, no one would notice as nothing could possibly get any worse than these clowns running the district.

Did not receive my postal vote (May2023) the call operator was not very helpful or professional when informing her, she just brushed it off and disappointed that I had my rights to vote. If I wasn’t paying my Council Tax the Council would soon sort it out

Absolutely rubbish. Was told that my council tax direct debit had been cancelled as I didn't need it anymore, yet they attempted to take nearly £100 out of my account today. I had to cancel my direct debit manually to stop them. Often times very rude on the phone. The website is just shockingly bad
