I have been using Bowdon Parish Centre for 18 years and have found it to be my perfect venue for my Martial Arts School. The size is just right, and there is plenty of parking. The admin team are great and always there if you need them.

Deeply Disappointed – Ruined My Daughter’s Birthday

I don’t usually write reviews, but I feel I have to after the terrible experience we had here celebrating my daughter’s birthday. What was meant to be a joyful, memorable day turned into an incredibly stressful and frustrating experience—one I wouldn’t wish on anyone.
We had paid for extra hours specifically to come in early and decorate, get things set up, and make sure everything was perfect for our guests. But the woman in charge didn’t even show up at the time we agreed on. After dropping off some decorations, we left briefly to collect more items. She called us and said she needed to leave and would lock the door—but told us to let her know when we’d be back. We said 2:00 PM, and she agreed.
When we came back at 2:00 sharp, she was nowhere to be seen. We called—she said she’d be there in 10 minutes. Twenty minutes passed. Still no one. We tried calling again—no answer. Time was slipping away, and we were left standing outside the venue, locked out, panicking, with guests arriving soon and nothing ready. This alone caused unnecessary stress and made us feel completely disregarded.
It only got worse from there.
We had planned to use their oven to bake fresh pizzas for the kids. I even mentioned this during the booking. But no one explained that the oven required a separate switch on a distant wall to work. We spent ages trying to figure it out—precious time lost while guests waited. In the end, we had no choice but to place a last-minute order with Domino’s in Altrincham, which took 45 minutes and cost us over £340. This should never have happened if the venue had communicated properly.
Throughout all this, the staff were dismissive, unhelpful, and at times shockingly rude. When we tried to raise concerns, they reacted aggressively rather than apologizing or offering solutions. There was zero empathy, zero professionalism, and absolutely no effort to salvage the situation.
I had envisioned a warm, fun, and smooth celebration for my daughter’s special day. Instead, it felt chaotic, cold, and frankly, careless. There was no sense of responsibility from the staff, no attention to detail, and no understanding of how important this day was for our family.
For the price we paid—plus the extra expense caused by their lack of support—we received nothing close to what was promised. It was a complete letdown. I left feeling upset, angry, and full of regret for choosing this place.
We will never be back, and I strongly advise others to think twice before booking here—especially for a special occasion. This place ruined a day that should have been filled with joy.

Great space, rented for our nephews 4th Birthday party in June-23.
Big space with plenty of child sized tables and chairs along with adult alternatives too.
Took us 40 mins to setup and 30 to tare down

Very nice place for small or medium size gathering. Clean and spacious, very well equipped kitchen. Staff are supportive. Can't ask more than that.

Large space, clean, has parking, has toilets, made up of three main rooms: main hall, sports hall, smaller room and small kitchen, office and toilets.
