The castle is very lovely and has an interesting modern history! There are a variety of independent artists making cool crafts some of which offer small courses you can do (we did the blacksmithing at the forge with Ellie (who is great fun!)). There is only an honesty cafe here so bringing your own lunch is recommended as it only has hot drinks and cakes!

Cafe has changed hands a few times. Is currently ran by the workers in the small independent shops in the hall itself. Honesty box for you to put your money in. Some lovely cakes and nice place to relax.

Excellent hidden gem, lovely grounds. There is work needed to make the castle more accessible for wheelchair users. The small artisan outlets are great to look around. It's missing an actual cafe. The "honesty cafe" was just a fridge with drinks. Great history to the building also.

Absolutely delightful visit this fine and sunny day. We enjoyed reading about the restoration project and came away eager to contribute to this important work. The spatter of artisan potters and jewelers was so lovely and we bought some fab items. The little cafe was open and the food was fresh and delicious - we had sandwiches in gluten free bread. Really lovely visit enhanced by the beautiful gardens and flowers which are clearly well maintained and cared for. ❤️
