After residing with Calico Homes for over a decade, I'm saddened to say that my experience has been overwhelmingly negative. Throughout my time as a tenant, the property maintenance has been consistently subpar, with rushed jobs and neglect of essential repairs. Despite numerous complaints and formal requests, the necessary upkeep has been severely lacking.

One of the most concerning aspects of my tenancy is the apparent disregard for safety and basic living standards. There is no rear exit in the property, posing a significant risk in the event of an emergency. Additionally, the absence of proper drainage in the back garden has resulted in persistent water accumulation, creating an unsanitary environment and potential hazards.

Furthermore, the presence of black mold growing unabated on the walls and around the windows is alarming. Despite my efforts to address this issue, including regular cleaning, the mold continues to spread, indicating a deeper structural problem that requires urgent attention.

The recent inspection conducted by Calico Homes only served to exacerbate my frustration. The inspector appeared disinterested in my concerns as a tenant, dismissing them without proper consideration or action. This lack of empathy and responsiveness from the management further highlights the systemic issues within the organization.

In summary, my tenure with Calico Homes has been marked by disappointment and frustration. The failure to maintain basic living standards and address critical safety concerns has made my living situation untenable. As a responsible landlord, I expected better treatment and support, but unfortunately, that has not been the case.

After months of waiting for a house we managed to get a house, at first it seemed decent just needed a bit of TLC since Calico doesn't do "cosmetic" which is fine but one day when it was hot day we went up to decorate the house, opened the door only to be greeted by a pungent smell. I went around the house to find where that awful smell and it was coming from of what supposed to be a 67 year old who suffers from Korsakoff and chest problems ( recently been in the hospital with pneumonia) bedroom carpet. I noticed a urine stain on the carpet and noticed many more and my cousin lifted the carpet only to be greeted by stale dog urine and dog heat blood soaked right through the underlay and the floor boards. I rang up despite waiting 40 minutes to fix a leak in the boiler only to be greeted by rude argumentive woman called Emily who started shouting at me saying I don't have the number for the boiler as I tried to explain we wasn't at the property and to arrange a day to fix the boiler. Few days later I rang again after being passed back and forth to ring different numbers, eventually a helpful woman named Jenny helped and managed to arrange to get the boiler fixed. Went to ring up again to fix more repairs and to get the black mould ( the dangerous kind) to be sorted they've painted the mould in the top corner but not the bottom, as I was ringing to ring to sort out the repairs only to be greeted by the same rude Emily only to be told " open the windows and clean it yourself" so I have taken her advice to open the windows and clean it myself and it's still not shifting. The back yard is a health and safety hazard, no pavements or laying down as my disabled parent fell and hurt herself due to tripping in the backyard being uneven, no front gate put in to act as a health and safety barrier. the only thing Calico actually bothers to get in contact is when the rent is due, absolutely disgusting how disabled people are treated as myself who suffers from autism and a live in carer i feel bullied and discrimated i should have went private least you don't get all this hassle, maybe Calico should be paying me to do their jobs for them.

I have never in all my life had to deal with the most difficult housing than Calico. I guess there happy to leave a elderly woman sleep on a couch who suffers from two collapse vertebrates absolutely disgusting. We was illegally eviction due to my mum mental health but Calico believe her and put it down as moved out. No we didn't move out we was thrown out and now we have nowhere to go just sleeping on a couch waiting for Calico to drag their feet. As for the website I wanted the Burnley area but you keep recommending Blackburn and Accrington which is no good if anything I would rather live in the streets than rely on you guys putting us into a house.

I’m shocked I’m a letting agent and would never make my tenants wait months and months! House swap kitchen was left all cupboards left for over a month to be fit back on kitchen is old and falling apart but instead of replacing they Will literally do anything not to spend more money on the priorities but gladly let the tenant upgrade everything 2 doors on house broken window latches broken the bathroom is different colours when complain in told it’s fine as long as it’s not too different toilet white bath and sink old and grey although it clearly states on the advertising they will never Mitch match things in a home so lies! All fencing falling down in garden child can’t go out due to safety no gate on front garden near a main road, I had to complain to the local mp to even get any jobs sorted they give houses in complete dispair I’m still waiting now for a worktop in kitchen nearly 3 months on tiles in kitchen are loose too if I had the money I would be gone!

I had a friend who worked and they did not supply him with the right equipment to do such lifting for example, he had to lift something that would be a two man job alone he now suffers with back pain and it has drastically impacted his life. They did not supply him with anything to assist with his back injury and tried to make another person work while they were severely Ill but they do it in a sly way so that no one can sue.

I lost my partner last December and I was at a loss.. Memories in our home were too much to bare and the house was the pits but calico helped me and I'm now in a gorgeous property with a new start for my daughter and I. Love my new house. Calico acted with compassion and empathy to my loss and I can't thank them enough. Thank you calico staff 🙏

Despite previous contact regarding this matter( including along discussion with two reps on site) the caretaking/grounds maintenance is appalling, we accept the benefits of leaving the grass to grow in the early parts of the year this is ridiculas.
The weeding is non existent to the point that the weeds on the paths are becoming a trip hazard and damaging to the actual path structure.
Why do you charge a service charge yet provide no basic service?

I was broken into on the 14th of December 2021. Over 6 months ago!! Still waiting for a new back door to be fitted (it has been left boarded up) after numerous phone calls and emails I’ve been told today (30th of June 2022)that the door has now been passed on from Burnley Windows & Doors to Ringstones and I now have to wait for them to contact me. To say I’m not happy with Calico is a huge understatement.
