We went on the clay pigeon shooting arranged by carers first. We had an amazing time well looked after and felt totally relaxed for the lunch afterwards. Thank you very much.

Appauling experience due one particulat staff member called Yasmin. After my dad came out of hospital Rapid Response had been brilliant then passed us to Carers First for some interim care over the Easter Bank Holiday. Yasmin was rude, made assumptions, put words in my mouth and talked over me and full on argued with me, acting anything but professional. My Dad was in his final days of life after a battle with cancer, I explained this to her on the phone and that we needed extra help over the BH weekend - she queried how we knew this and demanded to know who had told us he only had days or weeks left, and wasn't fully satisfied when I said his Macmillan Care team and the Ellenor Hospice! Considering she was in charge of coordinating care for people in need, she severely lacked in empathy to the point where my mum refused to take her calls as she had been so rude and upset us both, in what was already an extremely stressful situation.
Only after Rapid Response and Ellenor got in touch with her (and presumably explained the situation) she called back again and tried to help but it was too little too late. Ellenor Hospice in the end came through and managed to sort care for my dad in his last few days as he passed that weekend.
Other staff members that we spoke to at Carers First were polite and helpful, Julie for example, but if you happen to get Yasmin I'd advise asking to speak to someone else.

Carers First have been supporting me in my caring role for a number of years up until April 2019. Unfortunately they lost funding for the Gravesham area then and since then no support has been available through Imago who were supposed to have taken over. Carers First do a great job!

Unfortunately, looks like the rules have changed for carers and we are no longer eligible for any support
