We have a relative in this dementia unit we visited today as we pulled up I marvelled at the building it was very grand looking as we entered the hallway /reception was nice welcoming and clean .
The staff that we saw all seemed friendly .
As we got to our relatives room we found her slumped in a chair badly stained clothing on one slipper on and one off her foot was blue with cold ! In front of her was a side table with a fish of soup and a roast dinner and no drink bearing in mind she had a water infection neither of the dishes had been touched ! I offered to feed her but the food was cold so she refused it, when the staff came in we asked for a drink for her and asked if she wasn’t eating they said she had eaten her breakfast and took the dishes away when they brought her sweet in she tucked into this , surely someone could have offered to help her with her meal and if she refused fine but it was obvious that she hadn’t had that option !
She was also soiled staff were informed of this as we left , my husband went to use a toilet that a member of staff had just left and found it disgusting toilet was badly stained the toilet seat was hanging off and paper all over the floor ! Overall Not a good impression .

My mother recently had a week of respite care at Cartmel Grange and thoroughly enjoyed her stay. The staff were very caring and friendly and there was lots of activities to participate in. The facilities are clean and well presented. A huge success.

Been today to their Summer Garden Party,which was a huge success. The residents enjoyed an afternoon in the garden with plenty going on. We enjoyed a wonderful afternoon cream tea. The weather was kind to us. I would like to say a huge thank you to all the wonderful staff who have worked hard for everything to go without a hitch xxxxxx

I visited my Mam on Saturday for the first time since she moved to Cartmel Grange. Covid regs were simply and effectively put in place - thankyou to Karl for his help here - and the visit was the definition of short but sweet. Thankyou to all of the staff for making her so comfortable and happy.

My darling husband gerry has been living in Cartmel Grange with demantia for the last 20 +months during that time gerry has had the best care l could wish for. the staff know his likes an dislikes they understand his needs and moods. as we enter the last stages of his life l feel he is with" family "everyone from mel (manager) to jan (teas) put a smile on his face Mike who tells him (we guys stick together) carol who hugs him Sandra and pat (nursing sisters) who miss nothing and everyone else who care for him l am so greatful to you all.
However that is only half the story l have had as much care from this "family" never sent home if l needed to stay always supported always kept informed always a cup of tea or a offer of a meal if lv not brought mine 20+ months of visits different days different times days and nights and l have NEVER seen anything lm not happy with ..l wonder how many homes can have that said .?..
I just want you all to know how much your work is valued.
