We have been trying to adopt 2 little girls from Las Vegas since 2023 at the mother's request. The mother is incarcerated and she wanted us to have the 2 girls because we had raised her other 2 kids for a years and she had visited them here. We did all the test, took the background check and I even flew to Vegas to meet the girls. I fell in love with them. Even with their sisters who we were willing to adopt also. The Guardian Ad Litem wanted us to have the kids also. Since we live in Florida there had to be an Interstate Compact agreement, so Florida was responsible for doing the home visit for the girls to be flown here. This was because we are not blood relatives, but fictive kin. We'll Tina started out very polite said she would be doing the home visit. Told us all the things we should have when she comes even sent some photos because we had purchased the wrong ones. After spending so much money on baby bed, strollers, locks, and clothing we were wondering what was taking so long so we asked to speak with her supervisor. We had a phone conference which the supervisor informed us that there was nothing in the background to stop the adoption and that we would hear something within a week. My husband has a felony from 30+ years ago, which we told them about up front and that was no problem, well miss Tina took it upon herself to continue to put us off saying she had 9 other cases besides our. Then she said we would be at the front of the line because we had everything now by this time it has been a year. She told us lies that her supervisor was not in meetings when we requested to speak with her again. Then she called us without her supervisor and had Nevada tell us that we could not adopt because Florida denied the home visit. This lady Tina is a lier and should Never be in charge of child placement. Instead of them sending out a new case worker they are asking that Nevada re-do the ICPC while the 3 year old has been in 5 different homes in a year. No one seem to care about the girls. This lady is just rude incompetent and she told me that there are only 2 case workers doing home visits for Sarasota county. That is not our problem. If you can't do your job, just leave. Now Nevada has found a blood relative to adopt the girls and will not re-do the paperwork for fictive kin. So we are heart broken and broke financially and took so much time doing all the paperwork while this lady gets to continue to lie and deny children a safe place to live and now their sister and brother may never know their siblings and the mother will probably never see them when she gets out because they are going to the father's side of the family and he is the reason they are in this predicament in the first place. We are seeking a family attorney that can pull this ladies record and see if this is something she does often to children in crisis. She never even laid eyes on us and only spoke with my husband 2 times. I have all of the texts and emails that she sent. She lied to us all the way up to the day she made that final phone call. We have been devastated by all of her lies and I pray that those angels have a good home and all of the canceling they need. Devastated 💔. CPS need to do better. Just because a kid is not blood doesn't mean we can't love them like our own. You need to hire people that truly care about the children.

The work that the CPC does for the children in our community is amazing. Their facility and staff is so welcoming for anyone having to go through something so scary as child abuse. The people that work here have hearts of gold and their mission is incredible!
