This is my opinion. This was our experience. Mum and dad lived happily for many years in Bushell Way on the CSHA complex. Dad died and mum moved into Stanley Glynn Court which are small flats inside the sheltered Housing complex 6 years ago. All was OK, but as mum's dementia started to get a little worse, so did the 'digs' from management about her behaviour which back then was relatively alright. Over the next couple of years more phone calls to me outlining what my mum was doing - she left her flat to sit in the foyer during covid. Her dementia made her forget about it but instead of making an allowance, I had calls to see what I could do. As mum's dementia got slightly worse I received a phone call telling me she keeps losing her keys, (she misplaced them and I knew exactly where they'd be) she feeds the birds which they didnt like, even though there are bird feeders she goes in and out a lot, you are free to do so and a few more ridiculous comments about my mum which after I spoke with management, they stopped complaining for a while. Out of the blue a couple of months back, a manager called to say mum had opened the foyer door and let someone into the building. What am I going to do about it. It was her neighbour she let in.
The past year at 93-94 years of age, my mum started to have the odd fall. I could tell management were not happy as they didn't let me sign her 6 monthly review which was due. When my mum went to hospital last month, they were extremely quick to say that they will inform the relevant Services to say it's not suitable for her to return to - the home she knew and loved. They sent me some upsetting emails whenever I challenged them about the situation. My mum is in hospital still because a home cannot be found for her and CSHA didn't want her back as it 'wasn't suitable'.
In my opinion she was treated badly by all concerned with her having to leave her home because management said it wasn't suitable for mum any longer.
If you're a fit and healthy elderly person you're OK, but as you age and come with problems, the family will be informed every time they feel there's a problem with your loved one.
In my opinion as well, there are lots of rules and regulations. Quite often there are notices put through doors stating what you can and cannot do, what you must pay for, what you must fix yourself....things have been taken away such as tables in the foyer because residents used to leave an unwanted gift or book for others to take, a local newspaper delivery was recently stopped because the manager didn't want them delivered anymore, the communal kitchen has recently been locked up and can only be used now if a manager is present. In my opinion this is not somewhere I would want my loved one to live out their twilight years. Mum was happy there once, but the management changed and now empathy, kindness and consideration towards the residents lacks and these are qualities- all things that should be shown to the residents who pay to live there. I would not let my mum live there if she had her time again. This is my opinion.

Lovely set up, the residents I met seem very happy to live there. Residents have the choice to join Tea and Chat and games groups every week or to pop down for an impromptu game of pool in the communal lounge. The patio area overlooking one of the gardens is lovely for summer barbecues and there are regular social evenings, both in the building and out in the local area. Independent, self contained flats mean residents keep their independence at the same time.

Just an awful experience. Too many letters posted through doors that make threats, especially during lock down. Treated like kids and head manger runs around saying my gardens, my building. Just an unprofessional company.
