Very interactive and refreshing course, which has helped to build up my confidence. I wanted to build on my advocacy knowledge, skills and gain a qualification, and this course has given me just what I need. I have enjoyed working with the other students, and learning from them too.

Thank you Haq and Paul, for your patients, encouragement and empathy, during my journey on this online, Disability and Advocacy Training course.

I recently completed the Disability Advocacy and Employment training course. The trainers were knowledgeable and the course material was delivered in a varied and interesting way with powerpoint presentations, lots a of whole group discussions, smaller group work and role plays. The atmosphere in the room was always non-judgemental and everyone was treated with complete acceptance and respect. I would strongly recommend the course to anyone with an interest in disability issues and rights.

When I got a email about an advocacy course from CHOICE IN HACKNEY I had no idea of the impact this course would have on my life.
I know it sounds dramatic, but it’s true. I’ve always wanted to help people, to put a little more kindness into the world and really support people who are amongst most vulnerable groups in our society, but i didn’t know how.

I did courses in counselling, education, these courses were useful but didn’t really fit the drive help people.
This advocacy course did this:
This course was inclusive, accessible and knowledge based.
You learn at your own level.

They were able to make reasonable adjustments for the many varied way disability can affect us.
The timing took into consideration our circumstances, caring, and support needs.

The course tutors were supportive and accommodating and so helpful.
I felt supported and motivated, because it was being run and taught by people with disabilities was inspirational.

We learned about Disability Rights, History, Benefits, and Law as well as Confidence Building and Employment Skills.

The knowledge gained has really built my confidence, my classmates were also a great source of support and acceptance, it was an emotionally safe environment.

I’m so grateful to HAQ the course leader, PAUL the support facilitator and CHOICE IN HACKNEY.

Honestly do this course!! It’s been fantastic!

My learning experience on the Advocacy and Employment course with Choice was amazing. I have learned so much and enjoyed every minute of it. Haq, the teacher took the time made things easy to pick up and process. There were lots of interesting chats where all us students got to know each other and met some interesting lovely people. During the course, with what we learned, has changed part of me for the good. I can not wait to use the skills I have learned to help other in the future.
Thank you for this great opportunity Choice

I have almost finished the course Advocacy and Disabilities course provided by Choice in Hackney. What an excellent course. Lots of useful information. The trainers Haq and Paul really know their stuff. Each weekly class was well paced, and allowed you to understand the information we learned. The homework puts the subject into context, and feedback was really useful. All aspects of advocacy, the role, and necessary skills were presented. This was with an emphasis on those with disabilities, how as an advocate you might support. I felt far more confident about being able to apply for employment in this area of work, and how to support people with disabilities. Well worth taking the time to apply, and so happy I did.

During The covid 19 lockdown, I decided that I wanted to enhance my advocacy skills and get a full qualification and so I started looking around for courses, and sending out emails enquiring how to join a course. I was unsuccessful as none of the organisations got back to me. My sister sent me a link from charity jobs for and advocacy and employment training courses with Choice in Hackney and I applied and was instantly contacted back with joing instructions and information on what the course required from me and what I should expect from them.

This was a 13 week online course and each week was packed with such crucial information which was so valuable if you work in or have a disability yourself.

The assessors Haq and Paul, were very organised always arrived on time and always remained very professional, they made the course extremely interactive allowing the group to interact as a group the in smaller groups but keeping us working as an advocate each week. They gave us homework for the first 6 weeks which they supported us through give vital feedback and guidance if we were not sure about how to complete and element.

Both assessors complimented each other by balancing the information which was provided giving real life examples as well a theory based information.

They went above and beyond to make sure that we understood what we were learning and were always available should we need additional support.

They constantly recognised all of our hard work and efforts and gave us constant praise whenever we produced work. They gave constructive feedback at every opportunity allowing the group to reflect on good, bad and areas of improvement.

This course was so well managed and delivered that I'm not sure I can do another course as I fear it will not meet the standards of how Choice in Hackney have delivered their course.

I recommend this course to anyone who has a disability or works with people who have a disability. Not only is there abundance of information but the delivery and the self care which has been inserted into this course is phenomenal we did a confidence building exercise which allowed us to reflect on what our need are and where we want to be in life, again it is such valuable information and learning.

I would like to finish by saying thank you to Haq and Paul for keeping me on my path to following my dreams, thank you for honing a skill and allowing me to perfect my existing skills.

I heard of Choice in Hackney via another disability organisation. I am at the end part of Choice's advocacy training programme, and I cannot see one flaw with them at all. Absolutely respectful of who you are, reminding you that you are worth something. When in doubt of legislations and rights, you learn that you have that right. Haq and Paul are absolutely to gentlemen with the scholar. I'm new to kindness and am changing my mindset for the better! A legendary course run by legends themselves!

I’ve had the pleasure of following the course Disability and Advice with Choice in Hackney.
The structure of the course is accessible and has just the right amount of information with insight into every aspect of the covered area. The bonus has always been the experience the trainers have brought, on top of the information that has always been relevant and according to current legislation.
With over ten years of experience in doing the course Haq and Paul engaged every participant and they were genuinely interested in everyone’s opinion while also offering the support needed in order for everyone to understand the information.
The course also covers areas like confidence building and employment techniques.
This has been an eye opening course regarding disabilities and how we should all guide over the social model when dealing with disabilities.
