Wouldn’t give it 1 star….
I’ve had EUPD and depression for at least 15 years…been to my gp almost every month asking for help.
Been to Joseph palmer centre at least 4 times over the years (referred by gp)
I told them that I have trouble keeping my emotions in and often think of hurting others as well as myself. They keep referring my me back to my gp. They told me I have to meet the criteria to get therapy (doing online courses)
This could take a while and I need help NOW.
When I take my life it will be on their heads.

Had a very good experience with Dr. Donohue here today - very professional and he listened to me at length and helped me with a plan of action. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful too.
FYI there's a free car park just outside the building.

Dr Nathan - inappropriate body language, borderline racist and impartial - sniggering at the fact my dad died and I’m still fasting for Ramadan?

I found the six week Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) course very nicely explained by two members of staff from the Psychology Department. It has helped me cope with dealing with my day to day life experiences and improve my mental health without being put under pressure. The practicing of skills and choice of interacting with the others on my course was useful and enjoyable. I have a better understanding how to change my negative thoughts into positive ones with new challenging situations in my life. Also learning how to keep fit better, keep motivated and learning how to relax. I recommend this course to anyone suffering from mental health issues.

I did the group therapy thing they have over Microsoft teams. The staff were kind and listened when someone wanted to talk. It's not like a typical group therapy meeting, though. It's a workshop where they tell you a lot of concepts like mindfulness, CBT, and other coping strategies.

If you've been in therapy for a while, it's unlikely they'll cover anything you haven't heard of before but the social interaction from the group helps.

I was under this service in 2015, received a group therapy and then was discharged without any follow up etc. I've recently been re-referred back to this service as my mental health has deteriorated quite drastically within the last year or so, and I had an assessment which I felt was positive and I thought I was going to be receiving some sort of support. I then had a letter stating that they would not be offering me any support or services, (due to my eating disorder, which I stated was under control and that I didn't need nor want treatment for it as I've had so much within ED services) but because of the fact I have an ED, they said that it was the reason they couldn't help me. I called the reception, breaking down crying stating that I was in crisis, and she told me that it was what the team had decided and suggested I go to a recovery college and take my meds, which has never helped or does not meet the level of support that I badly needed (and still need) She then said that if my "worries" persist, then I should go to the GP and discuss a re-referral back to the team who have let me down twice now, and I know I'm not the only one who have been let down from the service. I think its atrocious that so many people NEED support from mental health services, and they cannot receive the support that they so badly need. I know of people who have sadly committed suicide due to the lack of care from this service. I know that mental health services are under-funded, but the way that this service runs and decides who does or doesn't get treatment is disgusting. the system is flawed, and its a shame that those of us who live within the Borough of Elmbridge have no other options apart from a service who continuously lets us down. It takes a lot to reach out to get mental health support, and then to be refused and rejected just makes it even harder to feel as though you "deserve" treatment. This service needs to be investigated as they are allowing us all to fall through the gaps within the system and its not fair.

I have found the staff at the Joseph Palmer Centre most helpful. I saw the excellent Dr Ghupta on numerous occasions. She was both professional and caring and I found her manner far exceeded the 2 private psychiatrists I saw. When I left a message for her to call me she did so promptly.

I also saw the clinical psychologist Ruby Lyons who was also excellent and found my session with her most helpful. I cannot thank the Joseph Palmer Centre and in particular Dr Ghupta and Dr Lyons enough, for getting me back on the straight and narrow. Many thanks.

The worst place to be with a serious mental health condition. They will leave half of what you say our of reports to suit thier image of you and thier agenda. They will waist your life for years with no real help. I've been with these for 5years and had the time waisted. The 1st person I saw said I need help with certain things I don't understand but I've never received any help with them areas. Jpc are not capabale at looking after the mental health of any one. The staff are condescending at points and will do anything to get difficult patients off thier books. I have been failed by these people and when it comes down to it they will try make you self refer so your not in thier center. Terrible service in the community.
