An Artist with a Digger!

We first contacted Dave when we needed trenches digging for the piled foundations for an extension we were planning. His work was neat and accurate and he dealt with an unexpected obstacle making sure the trench remained true.
Recently (2023/24) he followed up with preparing the ground, and then laying and spreading the materials for a gravel drive. He took a day to prepare the ground, but was then delayed by wet weather which rendered the ground unworkable. He then returned, having arranged delivery of the limestone and gravel and completed the job in two days. He also operated the roller which I hired, being familiar and skilful with more than just diggers.
The result was magic. We have a clean and level drive which was very reasonably priced. Our property has been transformed, friends and family have complimented us on the result.
Dave is a great man to know for this kind of work and I do not hesitate to recommend him.

We certainly made the right choice picking D1 Excavations! After approaching them to complete some extensive ground leveling in our garden and digging foundations for a garage, we were super pleased.

We had the main man Dave, who's knowledge was second to none. He was eager to get things done right first time so he saved us from going about things the wrong way round which would have cost us more time, money and a whole heap of mess if we had done what we planned.

Recently used D1 to sort my garden out remove old turf level garden prior to new turfs as full of stinging nettles and sparse in areas. Dave was so helpful not only sharing ideas regarding bad areas but also landscaping coming up with the idea of a raised flower bed. Took into consideration our budget. Will without a doubt recommend them and definitely use again.

Dave at D1 was brilliant. Communicated clearly from the outset, great price, even better completed job.

Access was tight, so had to remove a fence and move a shed slightly, all of which Dave took care of!

What a lovely guy and his work is excellent too.

Having exhausted the options of hiring a machine from local hire shops I found Dave at D1.
I was overwhelmed with his help and support. His costs were very favourable and it also meant that he would operate the machine and I would be free to wheelbarrow the soil away resulting in a much quicker and cheaper operation than I had originally planned. As it turned out, Dave’s machine was too big to get through my garden gate, but this was no problem for Dave! He then sourced a mini-machine, arranged the collection and return, and turned up bright and early on the day scheduled for the work. He brought his own coffee and hardly drank it as we kept hard at work until the pit was finished.
In addition he was so helpful in sourcing a local skip hire and hardcore for the base at better rates than I could find. His general advice about the project was also extremely helpful.I would recommend Dave without hesitation.

Once on site, we were really impressed with the speed & quality of the work. Our job required removing a large number of large tree stumps. The work was challenging and yet Dave & his excavator made it look easy. Despite it being a messy job, Dave left a the site exactly as we wanted it. Dave is clearly very experienced and when I discussed our plans for other parts of our project he was happy to share his knowledge. I’ll be getting Dave around again in future to do other work for us.

Dave at D1 Excavations is a true professional, from the outset the site survey and resultant quote was very clear so we knew exactly what to expect. Dave also used his knowledge to advise us on the works and in doing so saved both valuable time on site and costs.

At all times communication was excellent and Dave kept to his commitments throughout arriving on site on time despite inclement weather conditions.

D1 Excavations were easy to deal with from start to finish. A relatively small garden job prepping for a garden office base, but a big job to do by hand. I had considered trying to take on the job myself and hire a digger for the weekend. But after giving D1 a call who took my requirements and ensured suitable equipment for the limited garden access. They were able to squeeze in the job at short notice and at a great price, cheaper than I could hire a digger for the weekend for. Not only do you get the digger but also an experienced driver who did a fantastic job, clean and tidy, protecting the existing ground, and the job was done quicker than it would have taken me to work out the controls. Would highly recommend and would not hesitate to use again.
