This 5* review is based purely on our first interaction/meeting with Dogs Trust staff at Shrewsbury. The young lady Britney we first spoke with was welcoming and helpful. Having viewed a small number in pens, we were encouraged to complete an online application form whilst at the centre. She then came to discuss the information given on the form and subsequently learned and understood the type of dog we hoped to find that would fit our lifestyle. She was charming and helpful.
We will now be on the system for 3 months. Whether we will be lucky, remains to be seen. Future adopters are offered supportive backup from the DT once a dog is placed.
Having read some negative reviews, I just wanted to add my first impression.

I was disappointed the only dogs in the viewing pens were already reserved. There person behind the desk was nice, but pointed out that you can't see any dogs, so just explaining that you need to fill in a general application on line. "What if you are not on line" the impression I had was it's all about money not welfare. Maybe I'm old fashioned I don't want a trophy I want a companion who I can shower love on

Adopted our beautiful boy Stormzy from here and we could not be happier.
The staff were all incredibly helpful and clearly dedicated to the dogs. They made the introduction with Stormzy and our current dog perfect.
We were provided everything we needed to know before adopting Stormzy including him coming for a day visit as well as a weekend sleep over to check all was good 😊
And most importantly we could tell Stormzy loved the staff and appreciated all of the work they had put into helping him and making him comfortable at dogs trust ready to transition to his forever home.

Great place with amazing staff looking after some unfortunate pups. We have had two dogs from here and they have turned out to be amazing family members. You just have to look past some of the behaviour of the dog's as their so different with you at home when their not stressed, like our collie (pictured) she really didn't settle in to kennel life but such a calm well behaved dog she hardly ever needs a lead on walks, sits for cars and curve on her own.

Roden helped us out alot and we're so friendly, they talked us through everything and we fell in love the moment we decided to give a home to Shadow. We have always had rescue dogs but this is our first husky and he is 10 and spends his days and evenings sleeping bless him. But we love him to bits. Thank you Roden xx

Nice place and people but very time wasting. Had an appointment to re-home my dog they took her by the kennels mid way through then carried on the assesment (took a other hour or so to complete) just to say she didn't do well in kennels so wouldn't help me. Could check dogs by the kennels at the beginning of a pre intake as to not waste everyone's time.

Visited a few times recently and very limited viewing access to see the dogs 1small area with approx 14 kennels and at least half of these the dogs had already been reserved and some empty which is good news but surely this is hampering other dogs and would-be adopters form finding their perfect match. Have been to other dogs trust centres recently and far better access.
