I booked my party I also asked her if there was speakers i could use to play music for the event. she told me no there wasn't any, i paid for the event then was later told id bought a wedding package. i said i just wanted venue hire she told me i have well over paid for what i was getting and i was definitely due a refund and she would get back to me to see how much i'm owed, she was adamant. she text a few weeks later and very nonchalantly said i wasn't due a refund as i booked the venue from 5pm, but the amount she told me was £150 and i had a big turn out so not quite sure how an hour or 2 amounts to that. we got to the venue to set up and it was a state, decorations from the night before left out, old smelly food in the corners they said they would move and hadn't been properly cleaned. they told us that the card machines were down and they were cash only with not much notice. when my parents arrived first to the venue they hadn't moved the food, which stunk by now or decorations, we had to do this, the womans toilets were disgusting with balloons and such all over. our External DJ cancelled 4 hours before, which is no fault of the venue, the lady was kind enough to help me get a replacement, i had found one also, but theirs came highly recommended by the venue, i lost an hour so guests arrived to no music and they were still 45 minuets late after that so 2 hours without music and it was terrible. i gve him a playlist and asked he didn't take requests and he could not follow simple direction, which really ruined my night, especially when i realised they did have speakers after all but they had advised me that i couldn't use them as the only guy who can work them is on holiday, I could have saved a lot of money and upset if all staff were trained on this. i thankfully packed all my expensive stuff into the car the night before, but went in the morning to pick the rest up. they had pinched a load of crisps off my crisp wall and spares from under the table, which i just find incredibly cheeky without asking me, napkins gone, other bits missing. and when i couldn't find my cutlery such as glass bowls and other buffet items, i had to go back in and they had thrown them in the bin, how absolutely rude and cheeky, especially when i had told them on the night i was going to return in the morning for them. i used to love going to this venue with my grandparents, it is a nice big venue that hold lots of guests, but unfortunately this has tainted my view and it really did, for me, ruin my wedding night that i had put so much thought and effort into. i would not recommend for important events like this and won't be returning

Attended a Northern Soul night, so was upstairs in the massive function room. Prices not too bad for drinks either. £1 for a can of pop and £3.50 for a pint of cider. No disabled access that I could see as had to climb stairs. So would ring the venue if you need access as they may have another entrance.

Great place! V friendly staff! Big function room upstairs & bar downstairs with massive snooker hall. Cheap drinks!!

This is a phenomenal venue for a big event, the space for kids parties is more than ample and I've attended so many here.. clean, friendly staff, warm.

I can't express how good this place is for kids though, the space for inflatables and such is epic.

It's your standard, good ol' beer house and welfare club, good for receptions, etc.

Always very friendly, both staff and patrons.
There is also lots to do there, pool, bingo, TV and rooms can be rented for parties. We have a family party booked already for March
