Vermont Hotel
Castle Garth
Newcastle
Booking Name "Douglas Elliot" gifted to Gary& Elaine Thomson Room 702 on the 26th January 2025.
To Whom it may concern.
I was in Newcastle on the date said above and staying at the Vermont for what was supposed to be a relaxing overnight stay.
We arrived at the hotel approximately 14.30 and were quickly checked in and advised of our deal during our stay.
All things being well, my wife and I made our way to our room 702. Upon exiting the elevator and walking along the hallway to our room, we could hear the noise coming from 703.
It was clearly a gathering of more than what should have been in the room - being a standard double room.
After freshening ourselves up we then popped out to find the Hudson Restaurant where we had been booked into by the hotel for our 3 course dinner, which incidentally turned out to be 2 courses.
After our meal we returned to the hotel to have a refreshment before heading back to the room to relax.
Again when exiting the elevator we could hear the room 703 was still occupied by more than there should be in the room.
Briefly between the hours of 22/30 - 00.30 we eventually got that piece and quiet expected for our relaxing night away from Glasgow.
Unfortunately after this our night descended into a nightmare. At this point the first trough of people arrived back to room 703 with obviously no consideration to anyone on level 7.
Shortly after this the door was then being hammered and someone shouting to his mate to be let in with the females he had brought back.
Comings and goings came for the next 2 hours.
At 03.30 the next group arrived back to again batter the door shouting to get in. It was clear there was one room booked with a larger group all using it as their base for the evening.
This loudness and shouting was now becoming a major issue and my wife was beginning to panic and was at one point scared to even go to the toilet and this was all happening outside our room.
As you would imagine we have now had no sleep and low and behold at 04.15 a bang on the door could be heard swiftly followed by a shout "it was the night manager and the Police" the occupants of room 703 were instructed to open the door. We could clearly hear the manager evicting them along with the Police and again it was all very loud and in fairness our whole night has been ruined.
By this point my wife and I are absolutely shattered having no sleep at all.
A few hours later we went for our breakfast and just wanted to check out as it was a dreadful experience.
At reception we were astonished that when checking out we were asked how our stay was?
We quickly answered it is the worst overnight stay we have have ever had in any hotel.
I did notice at this point that a male "Jim" who we then found out was the Duty Manager then asked us if we could come somewhere a little more private.
I asked if he had received a handover from his colleague on nights and he said yes.
Whilst an unreserved apology was given Jim told us his hands were tied as to what he could do and instructed us to email head office as this had been documented and raised to head office.
We as a couple looked forward to our evening in Newcastle at the Vermont. As above it was just not to be.
The policing of the coming and going of individuals in and out of the hotel needs addressed as its simply unacceptable that this could be allowed to happen.
We also believe it is unacceptable that a Duty Manager has no influence on what he thinks should be done on a personal basis following the horrific events endured by us that evening.
To sum it up, it was a overnight stay that was so horrible in so many ways and we look forward to your response in writing.
Everything noted is factual and a prompt response from your head office would be much appreciated before its posted in full on your testimonials page on the Vermont Site and trip advisor.
We look forward to hearing from you
As yet no response from head office at all.
