I had the absolute displeasure of becoming entangled with WCC a long time ago. My experiences caused lasting damage and hurt which only now, over 25 years later, can I begin to address.
I was invited at the age of 18 to move into the centre and work with the Elim Evangelistic Team, at that time lead by Paul Epton. As a young and naive believer, I was in awe of Paul. who presented himself as a great man of God and so I moved from Blackpool into a small room inside the nursing home attached to the church.
Only after I had moved in was I told that to earn my keep I must work unpaid shifts in the nursing home, helping to bathe and toilet the residents, with absolutely no training. This was not what I signed up for but I was told that God was testing me and I must be obedient. I duly complied, causing me great discomfort and compromising the dignity and safety of the elderly residents.
Like many young people before me, I was eventually told to leave the church. I remember running out of Evelyn Eptons office in tears and out into the street in my slippers, having been berated for quite some time. I was left to find my own way back to Blackpool and the next day my belongings were delivered to my parents home in the churches van.
What I experienced was spiritual and pshycological abuse and I can only describe my experience as being involved in a cult.
Things may be different now, but my short involvement with this unsavoury place was not nice in any way.
I would urge anybody to avoid this church in order to save yourself from the hurt and distress they caused to me.

Excellent church and toddler group, the blonde lady who runs it (I don't know her title and don't want to get it wrong ) is great, very approachable , welcoming and probably one of the nicest people I've ever met, really down to earth and caring . I can tell she loves what she does and she's always chatting to the parents and children and helping people. Very well run group another lady who helps is very good too . Literally can't fault the place and where else would you get a bacon butty, large coffee, toast for your child and a load of fruit later for them. Wish I could go more

Fabulous afternoon of creativity and play, story telling of the meaning of Easter and prizes for the eager listeners.. a lovely tea of hot dogs and chips and cakes for tea, all for a £1 per child of a certain age, very family friendly,

I'm absolutely more than happy to never go back there ever again for as long as I draw breath. I do believe in God, just not how the "elite" leadership profit off those who give when they themselves are on toil and struggle. There are practical means to escape problems such as emergency services, counceling groups and local welfare assistance. Certainly not giving into the indoctrination of a demanded faith. A true church is a gathering wherever you are and a true pastor is one in sackcloth, not in an expensive home funded by people less fortunate. True faith lies within people's hearts wherever they are and wherever they go in life for god. And to all of those who disapprove of this particular democile ? You speak truth

Having been part of the church family at Wirral Christian Centre for 25 years and been involved in many aspects of the work it is a shame to see some of the fictional reviews here that have no resemblance to the vibrant and caring church that has helped and still helps so many. Both of my children have grown up in the church and gone on to serve God around the country. Its exciting to see the new things taking place as the church grows and the rejuvenation of the once derelict church building is symbolic of how God rescues and redeems broken lives. The recent international evening was so exciting , I don't know anywhere else on Wirral where such a mix of race and culture happens in this relaxed way because despite our different background we are all one in Christ.
