This retreat centre has such an incredible energy. It is as though you can feel all the spiritual work that has been done here over time. ||Yes it's rustic but it has a charm that sines through. The huge grounds are amazing - beautiful walks for hours. I've been on retreat here multiple times and highly recommend, I saw the bad reviews and had to write one, they don't seem a fair representation of what a wonderful place Gaunts is, sounds like someone who used to have worked there that left on poor terms.

I went there for a 3 day retreat and we were very well looked after. The beds are very comfortable and the food is delicious. There are plenty of loos and bathrooms available if you don't have an en-suite. The grounds are truly magnificent, with majestic trees and mysterious woods to discover. I heard a deer bark for a long time and also saw deer running through fields close to the house. Looking forward to going back there in August

I’ve visited gaunts house multiple times, as a guest and as a volunteer for various events. For the facilities, food and general ambiance it is hugely over priced. Food is run of the mill at best and often seems to be largely based on cheap supermarket ingredients. Speaking to garden staff leads me to believe little use is made of the veg grown on site, such a waste! The house is in dire need of repair and updating. It could be so much more but this seems to be a place where the spiel is on point but the general failure to live by the principles disappoints every time. I’ve moved on to new venues, I think I have this one enough chances.

I have stayed at Gaunts House as a guest on multiple occasions over many years, both in the house and camping. The house and grounds are stunning and never disappoint. Unfortunately on this occasion I cannot say the same for many aspects of my stay. Whilst I appreciate that the dissolution of the charitable foundation may have caused some financial stresses, the recent price increases charged to guests are not reflected in the quality of provision. Camping for two people in one tent was priced at £490. This included food, despite both us preferring to self cater due to our raw food and restricted vegan diets. This had been allowed for our stay in May but disputed, then begrudgingly accepted on arrival in July. On this occasion we were informed that there was no leeway. ||||The food provided was substandard at best. It appeared to be made from cheap ingredients, with multiple carbohydrates, lots of leaves and vegetables and very little protein. Every meal contained rice, with Fridays meal consisting of soggy, greasy roasted vegetables, couscous, rice and salad (no protein). Saturdays curry appeared to contain whatever was left over from Friday’s meal, with the addition of a minimal few lumps of tofu. Sunday’s ‘roast’ meal constituted of two types of potato, rice and the odd kidney bean. None of this warranted the £15 price tag attached. Breakfast is unwaveringly ordinary with solid porridge, dusty muesli and non-descript bread. I would suggest that taking the butter out of the fridge earlier would a) make it easier for guests to spread and b) mean they do not use quite so much of it! The juice offered is cheap, long-life (and nasty). ||||This is canteen food at best. It is both unsatisfying and unacceptable for the price paid. ||||I am grateful for the independence of the Theatre, particularly in that it has its own heating system which enables us to control the temperature as we dance or are in stillness. I was extremely disappointed that the pool was green and soupy and therefore not safe or suitable to swim in. This has been a beautiful benefit of all my visits previously.

This is a review of Gaunts House as a venue (and not of any event/session taking place there). Beautiful and well-maintained grounds. The property itself, built in the 18th century, is more or less well maintained. Rooms are comfy but extremely basic with low-quality fittings. Event participants can choose to stay in single/twin rooms with private bathrooms; shared rooms with communal showers and loos; camping; or their own RV’s. The food is vegetarian, and overall pretty good - ranging from mediocre (especially in days when it’s mainly tinned foods) to quite tasty - certainly above average for the spiritual, yoga of ‘New Age’ retreats that take place there. Except for camping, prices are exceptionally steep, but they support the philanthropic work of Sir Richard Glyn. The kitchen staff are mainly volunteers; they talk enthusiastically about the works that go on at the RG Foundation, so why should we complain?

Beautiful place to stay and get away from the rat race of life. You can really breathe fresh air , enjoy the natural countryside and see stars at night. Delicious vegetarian food. Various events. festivals workshops, need to book though.

I love everything about this place.. The land, architecture and free spirits create a relaxing and meditative atmosphere for anyone who wants to get away from their everyday societal roles and find peace within themselves through nature. It is the perfect place for a personal getaway, group retreat, and any type of festival.
