Fairly scenic, sheltered and leafy station with evidence of its former life on a double track line, though now a single platform suffices to meet demand. Solid brick, open-fronted waiting shelter with ticket machine and – somewhat surprisingly as these are rather thin on the ground nowadays – a payphone. Very small car park, which usually has a few free spaces despite its diminutive size, immediately adjacent to platform.

Lovely little village with links to James Cook. Good place to start or finish walks on the North Yorkshire Moors, in particular Roseberry topping and Easby moor on the Cleveland way.
