We adopted our little dog Bow nearly one week ago.
Adopting a dog is a big responsibility and quite nerve wracking, I recommend doing lots of research before you go ahead and have lots of time and patience.
It really depends on the dog in the end I think but we were very lucky to get the opportunity from Halfway house dog rescue to adopt our little guy,he is terrier cross with lots of energy but is super sweet, friendly and great with all the family.
The staff there are really nice ,the facilities are good and the dogs are well cared for.
Their main aim seems to be to get the dogs out of kennels and give them a chance at having a loving home.

Halfway Home is a great place that made us feel very welcoming, especially as it’s the first time we’ve had a dog in our family. Our friends recommended this place as they adopted a dog several years ago, and had a really good experience and have a lovely dog. The staff were really friendly, helped us select some dogs to take separately for walks to find the most compatible one. Our dog, Olive, is awesome, we adopted at the beginning of the summer holidays to allow 6 weeks to settle down in our family, however, it only took a few days for this to happen. Also, our kids find it really cool that our dog actually comes from Transylvania in Romania, so it was an opportunity for us to get busy with Google maps and street view to show them the towns and places around where she might have known as a street dog before being rescued. All in all, a fantastic experience for our family, a wonderful dog and big thanks to Halfway Home to making it possible. Right, now time for me to go and walk the dog…

Very helpful people. A great area to come and visit dogs and interact. A fully enclosed area of about an acre with a second enclosure inside of 100m2. This is for your dog to interact safely with the rescues. I'd recommend this place if you're looking for a rescue dog.

Took our border collie here for a swim in their pool. Excellent. Our dog absolutely loved it - she did not want to get out. Unfortunately there was water everywhere, caused by our enthusiastic dog!!! We will be back, good value for money.

What a great place if you want to adopt a rescue dog. Staff all very friendly no pressure we went to find a companion for our resident dog who lost his younger brother and was pinning for him. We spent as much time with the dog we got out in the paddock and inside would highly recommend these we adopted Fern

Please, if you can always consider adoption. We have been looking for a new freind for around 2 years since losing our boy Duke @ 14 yrs old. A massive hole to fill. We called in yesterday while literally passing, we had no appointment booked & would of totally understood if they couldn't of seen us. We rang the centre from their carpark and they allowed us to enter. We were made so welcome by the 2 lovely lady volunteers.
Nothing was too much trouble.
Every animal there has a very unfortunate story to tell.
After quite some time there we eventually came home with Benny. What a treasure he is.
He's from Romania.
To be honest we could of come back with 2.
Would just like to say thank you to the Halfway House for introducing us to Benny.
The 2 ladies working on the day were so kind & loving towards the animals.
Would highly recommend considering this option if you are looking for a companion.
The chap who actually owns the centre was there too, what a nice guy he is.
We came away kitted out enough for a few days which I thought was a nice touch.
Hope this helps anyone considering using this amazing place !
Anyway thanks again

Bad experience with them after a dog we had from them had bitten a family member and had to be rehomed. Washed their hands of us even though we had children in the house and unwilling to take the dog back.
