I came into Holgate after 2 years of trying to get sober in the fellowships. Although I managed to get a few months here and there I could never sustain it long term. My experience with Holgate House has not just changed my life it saved it. I spent 4 months in the rehab centre and a further 12 months in daycare to continue working on myself with the support of the wonderful staff and peers I met along the way. It’s not an easy journey, but I didn’t travel it alone. I went through loss, hardship and struggles while in my time there but I am here 18 months later still sober and a better person thanks to this service, the staff and my wonderful peers. Although this was my first and hopefully last time in a rehab facility, I know many people I met along the way had been to multiple rehabs before this one but none had kept them clean before Holgate. Going to Holgate is truly the best thing I’ve ever done for myself and for my family and loved ones.

Holgate House is a great rehabilitation centre, this treatment centre has completely reshaped my life as well as my negative thought process.
I entered the rehab in October 2022 and I was broken, I honestly thought nothing & no one could help me get better, as my drinking & drug use had destroyed my life I'd lost everything, i was suspended from work, I lost my family, my family home i become homeless sleeping in either my car or hotel rooms, I lost my children my mates & it eventually led me to making 2 attempts at ending my life because I felt I had nothing more to give, I was severly depressed suffered from anxiety and could not stop picking up the bottle, I kept all my problems to myself I wouldn't speak to anyone about what was really going on for me as I was to proud and felt ashamed of the person I had become.
Within the treatment centre the facilitators were great they nurtured & supported me, they helped me towards understanding more about the disease I was suffering from and how to become aware of my emotions feelings & behaviours that had kept me isolated for so many years, I also had 1-2-1 counselling sessions which helped me in opening up more about my thoughts and my feelings away from the group environment.
I spent 6 months at the rehab and in that time I got comfartable speaking & reaching out about what was going on for me which is something I have never done and I realised I wasn't the only one who felt like this, the support from the other peers within the rehab was great and i started to accept we was all suffering from the same disease.
I just did what was suggested throughout the whole of my time there and eventually my life as well as my mental health started to improve,
after rehab I moved on to 2nd stage recovery and lived in a recovery house with 3 other recovering addicts, whilst attending daycare group sessions Mon-fri 10am till 3pm, i continued to learn more about the disease, whilst interacting with other suffering addicts within the community, as well as completing assignemnts & stepwork, during my time in rehab and 2nd stage, I managed to complete the 12 steps of the programme and went on to complete a main share.
From not being able to speak or open up, to then having the opportunity to share my experience, strength & hope with other people suffering was a big thing for me, and was very rewarding.
I finally left treatment on 15th Jan 2024 and am now back in the family home I have all my family friends and children back in my life and and am due to return to work soon, which I never thought could be possible.
If you can identify with any the above problems I was suffering from then I would seriously recommend Holgate House, I am super grateful for my time there, as well as all the staff and facilitators who supported me on my journey.
I'm 16 months clean annd sober i have structure and routine in my life now, I have got myself a sponsor and attend regular AA / NA meetings.
I can't speak highly enough of Holgate house and honestly highly recommend it, this place has changed my life, and today I feel happy, content and have piece of mind.

Holgate house helped me get to where I am today, I'm nearly two years clean/sober and working hard at developing my new life.
The tools i needed to live life free of addiction were taught to me by the attentive, caring staff,who some of,share the same experiences.
Their understanding of my situation (at the time) and their eagerness to help me escape that way of life, has spurred me on to become the person I am today, a hard working, devoted farther, who has fantastic opportunities to come in the not so distant future.😊

Holgate paved the pathway for me to be able to live a productive positive life. I am over 2 years abstinence and my life is blessed. I embrace everyday with my family. All the staff and management work really hard to support clients coming through. Their dedication empowers individuals to build up self esteem and confidence being able to look at and tackle some of the demons manifested in addiction and ti get rid. I am grateful and would recommend holgate to anyone who is serious about wanting to get well. 😁

After been in a few rehabs over the years, and not managing more than a few weeks clean time. I landed in Holgate house just over 9 years ago. I've never used a drink or drug since, so that speaks for it's self. Most of my peer group are still clean aswell and doing very well. Great rehab that works with all types of addictions, highly recommended.

A fantastic rehabilitation unit offering a full 12 step program. Relaxing environment which aids in recovery.
Had some good chats with peers around the knights of the round table.
Thankyou to Jason and ALL the staff for helping me into my steps of recovery. I wouldn't be here otherwise.
In my situation I really was at deaths door and with the 1 to 1 counselling and guidance I'm alive today.
Loved it in the kitchen cooking for the peers.
Once again thanks Holgate and hope to see you all in future to share my experience of my recovery.

I have just spent the last seven months at holgate house 🏡 its been an emotional journey getting to know myself and learning to love the person I've become, not only myself but to love others too. I am so grateful to all the staff councillors and my peers past and present for having faith in me and believing in me when I didn't and also for never given up on me.. I stayed in Holgate house for 6 months and the love I got showed by staff and my peers was unbelievable. I didn't want to leave in all honesty. They made me believe in myself and showed me that recovery from addiction is possible. Using the tools they showed me and some action I'm a year clean. Highly recommended.
