Residents screaming help all day long. If you live nearby they just make your life a misery, my kids got really upset by it.

No double glazing no air-conditioning so they have the windows open. The place needs closing down. I've heard less noise from a prison.

On behalf of all my family, I would like to say a massive thank you to Nic, Rebecca, Dawn, Avril, Andreea and all the team at Knappe Cross, for the exceptional help given to helping my dad. You have all been outstanding, the care is absolutely fantastic. You have given my mum peace of mind to help her recuperate, knowing that my dad is in the best hands, and in a beautiful and extremely clean and fresh nursing home. Thank you so much.
The team really do treat their resident's like family......including the visiting family.

My father has been there for a year and at first it was at least tolerable but not good. He is now at latter stages of Parkinsons Disease and needs total care. i.e. he can hardly move, speak or see. He needs to be fed, given fluids and help every time to the toilet. However, there are insufficient number of care workers to do this, most of which cannot speak good enough English for my father to understand and so he is left without basic needs of care. The place consistently stinks of urine as you walk in and the room is not clean. We one time counted 12 spiders, complete with webs, in his room. Despite complaining his room is still not of the standards we would expect. He was supposed to be monitored hourly but the care worker, when I was there, did not even look at him when she signed the sheet, let alone ask him how he was or ensure basic needs of fluid intake, repositioning etc.

I would not at any point undermine and, in fact praise, some of the carers, and indeed the regular manager, who not only did their best, but took a genuine, personal interest in my father and, I believe, genuinely loved him and cared for him. However, the owners, appear to only be interested in their profits, of which are huge, and do not support their team with the resources to provide a good experience for the resident.

For the above reasons, until the owners create an environment and level of care that they would want to live in, and I would challenge them to say that would be good enough for them, they are failing and until that point I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND YOU SUBJECT ANYONE YOU LOVE TO THIS HOME

I have recently been working with the team at Knappe Cross doing a small taste study and also delivering nutrition training. The staff have a good awareness of how to meet the nutrition and hydration needs of their residents and do appropriate screening to identify those at risk of malnutrition. As a health care professional I would thoroughly recommend this care home. Debra Williams (Registered Dietitian)

Rang this evening as had concerns for a resident who could be heard shouting for help for over half an hour! The lady I spoke to could not even speak English and told me to ring back tomorrow! I tried to call again but same person answered the phone, tried to ask her if I could speak to someone else, but she didn’t understand! Gentleman still shouting help an hour later!!! Where is the care and compassion?
