Terrible service? My clients builder used a NAPIT registered inspector Haizhoa Wei ti check his electric work? After 2 visits still no sign off no reports or indications thot the install was dangerous we had a NIC registered do a condition report he said a prohibition order should be put on it? and it cost £2500 to correct it all? We lodged a complaint with report and photos (no money wanted) we just to make them aware of his incompetence fir the safe guard of others? They just shut the complaint down ? A shame as a UKAS quality provider? We are taking this further

NAPIT IS UNETHICAL - CONFLICT Of INTEREST:

It took NAPIT 5 months to agree to send out an inspector to look at the heat pump installation. They then determined that it would be fine for the installer to fix the issue by moving the heat pump to a different location to the specifically agreed one, contrary to the Consumer Credit Act and resulting in noise issues, the blockage of a passageway or an eyesore. NAPIT also took the nonsensical view, to support not withdrawing the MCS certificate, that the heat pump was completed and commissioned despite a host of technical issues that their own inspector had identified, and despite taking the opposite view for an EV charger that was installed as part of the same installation. Dealing with Abigail the admin person was frustrating, and she had no appreciation whatsoever for the impact of the situation on my wife and family. NAPIT basically conspired to support the installer in committing fraud, by enabling the installer to claim and keep a £7,500 government grant to which the installer clearly was not entitled as a result of their poor standard of service (host of technical issues), non-compliance with MCS (no performance estimate, heat pump and primary pump not installed in accordance with manufacturer instructions, installation not fit for purpose or compliant with regulations, safety and electrical issues) and fraudulent assertions (stating that they had submitted a Dno notification to self-certify and thus generate the MCS certificate and £7,500 payment to themselves, even though they had not at that time done the Dno notification,and stating that the system is completed and commissioned even though the customer was raising concerns, no documentation was provided whatsoever, no warranty).

The NAPIT and MCS regime is basically a whitewash. It does not give the customer any protection whatsoever. It is ran by people who have succumbed to the conflict of interest arising from the fact that the installer pays their fees.

I now have to go through a totally different process with RECC, to assess against the Consumer Credit Act. The whole process is designed to grind the customer down. This has now been going on for 9 months. In the meantime, my wife is pregnant and I cannot get the living room decorated as I know the radiators are undersized and will need to be replaced.

When NAPIT fails you in handling complaints, like they did with me, don’t stop there. Take your complaint directly to UKAS, the organization that accredits them. UKAS is responsible for ensuring certification bodies meet their standards.

Don't even call you back. If you think you have protection against a poor installed heat pump, think again. you're on your own.

I feel they are Useless and bias and Refused to challenge their electricians substandard work and support their poor electrical installation. Don't bother complaining to them, it's absolute waste of time

Place can be difficult to locate but decent when there ..only complaint - no heating on in building so wrap up warm !!

Asked for refund to be processed on 29/2/2024, still not received to this day (15/4/2024). Apparently this one “slipped the net”, over 2 months for a refund to be processed is poor from an organisation like this. I’m known in the industry and an advocate for electrical safety, but will be promoting the other body as the service received is poor.

Update *TIP FOR ROGUE MEMBER - Napit allow members to use the excuse ‘contractual dispute’ regardless to the issue for example poor workmanship, non finished install, undersized heat pump. Seems to be any excuse. Simply say that you weren’t supposed to heat the whole property. No evidence required. It’s amazing it overrides contract and any correspondence and you will be able to carry on being supported and able to use the Napit name*

Membership fees and protecting this income seems priority over public that has been ripped off by their members/rogue trader. Over 2 years of Napit involvement and the member has been allowed to use a heat loss calculation report that may as well be for the neighbouring property as the information on does not reflect out property whatsoever. The manufacturer has carried out own heat loss and the difference is 8.12kw making the ashp massively undersized. The excuse from the member is that we requested some of the house unheated(no evidence of this and why would you?) this would also not meet the government grant scheme so is a complete pack of lies. Good tip to all you rogue trader that undersize the system just lie and say its was to heat 1 room as this seems an exceptable excuse to Napit. #feespriority.
