Limited, but free parking and a short walk to the site across a meadow or along a bridle path, surrounded by beautiful countryside and woodland. No admission fee. A wonderfully preserved mosaic floor. Also, spotted a rare Roman Snail - yes, really! This species was probably introduced to Britain by the Romans. And this one on a Roman site!

Site of very large villa. Park on road in layby, and walk about 1/3 mile down farm lane. Many foundations are visible, and a re-laid mosaic is in a building, but can be viewed through windows. Nicely kept site which is open 24/7. No admission charge. There are occasional open days. An important location in Roman Britain.

Well preserved low walls of Roman villa that are free to visit. Access on foot only via farm road, a steep climb back after the visit, but you don’t notice it on the way there. The mosaic floor is in a large shed that is only open occasionally, a large window allows a partial view. Could be improved a lot. Overall a good visit. Free parking area along the road.

Lovely atmosphere, peaceful but imbued with history. On open days the volunteers are welcoming and full of knowledge about this interesting free English Heritage site.

The site is run by English Heritage and is open to visit all year round. The building housing mosaic flooring is closed at present. But peering through the windows gives an idea of the quality.
Walking around the preserved walls and using one's imagination and excellent information boards conjures up the past way of life.
Roadside brown signs indicate the precise location. Tree foliage makes the car parking layby a little hard to find.... But it's well worth the half a kilometre walk down to the site from the road.

Such a cool, free roadside attraction! Parking is at the top of a hill and there’s about a 1/4 mile walk down to the ruins which are well preserved and so interesting!
