Its quarterly Journal is of a high standard and well structured as the content is suitable for the beginner and the more experienced researcher. Its website has been updated and their Journals from 1975 to 1999 can be download in pdf format free of charge Their is a section for Beginners that can also be useful if you want a quick refresher on the basics. The forum is accessible to all, but there is a section only accessible to members, unfortunately to search the site the forum you need to register. The society also has a mailing list, and it is advisable I have been tod is to create a separate folder in your e-mail account as sometimes there is a considerable amount of information exchanged between members on the Mailing List.
The website includes the date and times of the branch meetings, the society has branches in various parts of the region.
The society has a research centre in Newcastle upon Tyne which is open Mon-Fri and a help session at St Mary's Heritage centre Gateshead between 10-1pm on the third Saturday of the month.
Personally, the website looks similar to many websites that provides basic information on the society and does not seem to be updated, but start digging and you will find some useful information and links on here.
