Wonderful staff, wonderful care.
Compassionate, kind, care with dignity.
Dad was cared for at Monkscroft for 7 years before he finally passed away with advanced dementia. His care was exceptional. The staff became his second family. Right up to the end he was treated with kindness, understanding, dignity, humour and love.
The staff also cared for us as his family, providing support and reassurance that he was being cared for.

Monkscroft has taken very good care of my Grandma, when she died they were so respectful, making sure she had a procession and purple velvet blanket when she was collected. They couldn't do enough to help us and very friendly. Highly recommend.

My 30 something year old husband was admitted to Monkscroft after a stay in Cheltenham hospital for a very traumatic accident which left him with a broken pelvis, both ankles broken & wrists. He no longer needed a hospital bed but was not allowed to weight bare so needed specialist hoists & care for a few months. He was given the choice between going into a care home or a brain injury unit (which we were told could have been traumatic for him due to the severity of other patients injuries). We chose the care home and were quite dubious as he would be the youngest patient there and we had preconceptions about what an β€˜old persons home’ would be like.
Honestly we were so wrong! All of the staff were wonderful! He made friends with his elderly neighbours. Myself and our friends could visit as often as we wanted and spend time with him in their lovely visitors areas or residents areas. I was even allowed to bring our dog & cat on to visit which the other residents loved!
He ended up only staying for a few weeks before being discharged to home care but it’s genuinely made me no longer afraid to grow older!
I would be very happy in such a friendly, warm, homely home!

After 7yrs of close association with this home it saddens me to say that my father was severely let down by Monkscroft in the advanced stages of dementia. His symptoms I am told by experts were common to this awful disease. The training, understanding and compassion were simply not there.
Having gone through a very long complaints procedure which caused further stress to me, my concerns regarding poor record keeping, management, care and treatment particularly regarding medication were considered by osjct to be founded (the evidence really left them no other option!)
I have been told that many measures are being implemented to prevent these things from happening again, sadly I have no way of knowing whether this is true, but I sincerely hope that it is for the sake of all current and future Monkscroft residents.
I was present at the CQC assessment back in 2018 and fully supported the excellent rating it received then. However, it is in my opinion based on my extensive time spent here, it is sadly under current management no longer the case. As such I can, based on my and my late father's experience NO LONGER RECOMMEND this home.

My mum spent 9 months here as end of life care. The staff/nurses are caring and they always treated my mum with dignity. The rooms have ensuite and the food is home cooked and they are given a choice of menu with every meal. They are plenty of activities to join in , and a beautiful garden. I cannot fault the care my mum received and would not hesitate to recommend this care home to other people .

The care at Monkscroft is second to none. My mother 18 months ago, and my father more recently, were treated with the utmost respect and kept comfortable and safe at the end of their lives. Their care and concern extended to me and my family. The staff went above and beyond what anyone would expect, staying way after their shift ended when it was obvious my father was in his last hours. I cannot thank them enough.
