We went to this place expecting a nice little cafe and shop with walking supplies. What a massive surprise we got. The shop had the atmosphere of a funeral / care home and would have given Bob Marche a run for the feeling of death and the smell of piss and peppermint clothing. The very few items that were for a younger person were stupidly priced.
The cafe was very reminiscent of a bad school kitchen and the food wasn't much better. The vegetables were edible with a straw and I was glad I didn't have the steak pie as I couldn't identify the meat. I ordered a BLT where the main ingredients are bacon, lettuce and tomato. I got a lovely bacon, lettuce & mayo along with a fairly nice latte. Think this place is mainly aimed at the grey pound and built a shop around a toilet block. I may be wrong people may enjoy visiting this place on the way to the afterlife, but if you don't need the toilet or food that cannot be identified then I suggest to keep on driving

Definitely a stop off point when traveling this way. Very enjoyable lunch with a special deal for weekdays in January and February. Some on site industrial heritage. Mill shop with some sales reductions but not a wool mill anymore. Free parking and toilets. Famous for its baby blankets.

A place full of character, with a squeaky door that added to the charm. Very interesting vintage industrial age equipment - never seen a real teazle carding machine for brushing wool before.
Staff were happy, friendly and human, nothing was too much bother. Good range of affordable food. Had to question bill as we thought they had undercharged.
Good dog walking area.
A great stop not far off the A68.

Nice shop and cafe. Lovey range of home prepared and cooked meals. We had 2 x Haggis rolls, chips and beans, really tasty and filling.

Stopped for a coffee and a small bite to eat. A lovely authentic Mill and rustic place to drink a coffee. Not a real espresso-machine, (hence the 4 stars, although the automatic coffeemaker grinded beans freshly), but still a very nice place to have a pause with a bite and a coffee. We had the panini with bacon and brie and it was fine.

As said it is a very nice place to have a stop. We were very welcome and people are very nice!

Update
Called in today as a first run out on the bike in 25. Great welcome and an excellent cooked breakfast. Consistently good

Stopped by here while out on the motorbike for coffee. Lovely welcome and great coffee and scones, hot food (home cooked) was delicious freshly cooked and quality produce. £15 for a breakfast and coffee seemed expensive at first until it arrived at the table. Huge!! I didn’t eat again until 4pm. There’s a gift shop attached to the restaurant a large garden with ample seating for warmer days even a play area to keep the kids happy. Well worth a visit
