Spent plenty of time wet cold hungry and knackered here. Don’t believe the pictures, they were taken on of the 2 days a year it doesn’t rain.
Otterburn makes British Infantry soldiers what we are - masters of cribbing and moaning 😉

I worked here as the NAAFI manager from November 1990 until November 2002 and loved every minute of it.
The scenery was wonderful and I made many good friends during my time there.
Being a guy who loves his own company made this a great place to be stationed.
Although the nearest supermarket was 32 mile away I never felt lonely.
The camp staff were very helpful and assisting to me on many occasions.
I do miss the place and still dream about being back on occasions.
LOVE IT

Stayed here in the 80s. Otterburn training area was a blast. Back in the day when Infantry training platoons started with 70 and finished with 28. Not exactly the best experience watching other 16 year olds cry because they were soaking wet for days in a waterlogged trench. Then getting punched around because they've 'switched off' after another beasting only to be rewarded by packing their cases a week later at Albemarle as they'd been 'binned'.
But hey, it was what it was then, no time for slack mincers making up the numbers.
Don't know how it works nowadays though.
Went back in the 90s with a TA unit but that was more like Centre Parcs that time.
