Fantastic, revamped building hosting Paul Hamlyn Foundation, an independent trust. The building hosts offices and a few meeting/conference rooms. Clean, minimalist decor.

Unsurprisingly, positive reviews from people who have been supported by them.

From our experience, their professed interest in making long-term structural change is on very shaky ground. This is seen in their own organisational structure, and where they put most of their money. A little research on their pyramidal staff pay structure, hostile approach to volunteers and portfolio of funded organisations will reveal that.

We applied to them and were given non-nonsensical reasons for refusal after an hour-long Zoom meeting, which did not tally at all with their professed aims, history and mission statement.

They are also one of the few funders which block organisations from re-applying for a year, in this case due to a small thing (tiny aspect of an overall proposal) that they didn't even bother asking clarification of. We shall not be applying again.

It would seem this is an example of another London-centric funder, with a great deal of money and very little interest in long-term structural change.

As a reformed offender, author and with continued contact with prisoner based initiatives, I can attest this Foundation seems biased towards any lived experience charities, maybe as a result of people in its decision making circles who do not believe that any person should be given a second chance. At least, unlike many other large grant giving Foundations, it doesn't exist to smoothen the tax returns of the super rich, but I doubt it is meeting the original intentions of its founder, either.

A very helpful organisation which is funding many NGO who are doing to the Indian society. An help from PHF is great initiative which boost them financially because many NGO are not able to do charity purposes for long term as shortage of funds as I witnessed when working as volunteer. I wish the PHF also help the newly established NGO. PHF is giving great support, and hope it continues for future also. Kudos to all the team..
