I was disgusted by the way I was treated here. I'm not even a member or user. I was on a good will visit. I was hemmed in by the manager and 3 members of staff. I was spoken to abruptly and dismissively. Even when I explained I had a cold I was not given space. If this is how they treat a disabled stranger how BADLY do they treat their users!!

I called in to Waste Not Want Not the other day, on behalf of a client.

It is on Poole High Street, near the junction with New Orchard.

I found it a bustling, welcoming place with a delicious smell of home made soup. The manager ,Erika, was busy, friendly and helpful. She showed me round and arranged for a food parcel for my client.

At the front of the shop is a cafe, to which everyone is welcome.

The cafe kitchen is open plan and sometimes Erika does budget cookery demos.

Behind the cafe is a supermarket which you can shop in if you are on a low income such as Universal Credit, Pension Credit etc. You provide evidence of income and they give you a membership card. There was quite a wide range of groceries on offer and the prices were low. For example, all the cans were 25p.

They can provide a free food parcel if someone has an E number (Food Bank Voucher), and they can deliver by arrangement. A blessing for someone who is housebound and can’t get to Jimmy’s (Poole Food Bank, nearby in St James' Church Hall). My client has limited mobility and lives up two flights of stairs. Even when he has the money for groceries the big supermarkets will not carry them up to his flat. But Waste Not Want Not were happy to deliver to him, that very afternoon.

I have gone through some terrible financial abuse, which left me unable to buy food. Thankfully, I was put in touch with Erika and the team at Waste Not Want Not and they provided me with adequate food and drink. I am so thankful to the team and also all of the people that donate the products to them in order for the amazing team to help people like me who are in need of the help. I truly don't know what I would have done without the support of WNWN. Thank you, with all my heart. Elsa x
