Nice marsh, good for bird spotting. I saw a heron in flight last time I visited. I ran here from Porlock town, facing the sea you can go right to Bossington and you can get to the castle through the national trust car park. Lots of barracks on the beach. To the left is an old derelict building with salt marsh trees, they make a great photo! A few walkers and dogs but very quiet and peaceful. Some of the paths are very overgrown if planning on running, make sure it hasn’t rained for a few days too!

You can park in the residential streets for free and then walk down the lane to a central starting position. This enables you to take walks to either Bossington, Porlock Weir, or straight to the beach along a boardwalk. I would recommend wellington boots or waterproof shoes as there are a few streams and obviously Marsh ground. Many things to see, such as wildlife, a memorial to a WW2 plane crash, and a petrified orchard. Great place to walk!

I was a little dubious about how much birdlife we'd see as I'm 8 months pregnant so not quite as mobile as I'd normally be. But we had an amazing time!

We parked in a residential street just a 10 minute walk away and then quickly onto the boardwalk, up onto the shingle bank and around in a loop. Probably 2km total. Though obviously possible to do so much more.

We were there for a good hour or more and spotted so many birds: swallows, swifts, house martins, meadow pipits, skylarks, a stone chat and a linnet! It was shaving watching the skylarks in particular, swooping down, hovering etc. gorgeous!

Mooie vlakte, vooral door de gestorven bomen. Wij vertrokken van de parking op Porlock Wear (betalend) over de keien op het strand. Laarzen waren geen luxe, maar het was begin april.
