I have a relative who has been in here for the last few weeks and honestly after finding out he was going here at first my heart dropped when I read some of these reviews…
However, from my perspective he has been treated with respect and dignity. He arrived poorly hence his admission in the first place. His first ward wasn’t suitable as there was issues with other patients and my relative, so he was moved to a more suitable ward. There was amazing staff on the Cottam ward (Naz & Danielle) that dealt with myself and (relative) but he was then moved to the elswick ward. So far I have 0 complaints. Huge appreciation to Gemma (deputy Elswick) in particular. Nothing ever seems to much trouble. Answers questions and takes 20 mins out of her day to update where she can. Whilst all staff I have had passing conversations with have been pleasant it’s given me some reassurance. (Even the receptionist)

Rome wasn’t built in a day.
Resources are tight and facilities often stretched to the limit but from what I have seen there doing what they can. Fantastic food and some facilities for patient's to join in with or relax with…
I don’t think these guys get enough credit for what they do.

I will always be grateful that they listened to me and my concern's regarding my relative. Because to be quite frank they are the only facilty that have.
To some taking medication isn’t the answer but for some medication is the only answer and that’s ok.

Thank you

So here i was visiting a family member when all of a sudden alarms started blaring! Turns out a schizophrenic had escaped, and was on the run. 10 minutes later i come across the particular patient in the toilets drinking out the toilet bowl on all fours! and they started barking at me and i ran out there as fast as i could. I dont recommend this place very low security and patients are scary

i don’t even care that u can see who posts this. this place is awful. constantly ignored. room is covered in black mould. the only nice staff here is julie, ben, angie, nicole and gracie. you aren’t helped. in anyway shape or form. when upset, instead of talking to me to find the problem, i was threatened to have my room stripped if i didn’t take medication. judgemental staff (Naz) who constantly judged me and other patients. put a big sign on my door asking to close door quietly yet my door was still slammed. especially by naz. when i asked for staff to contact maintenance to fix things in my room i was ignored. spent weeks waiting for them to sort out my medications. i wasn’t being given anything or answers even though i was supposed to. when asked to go home becuase i’m now informal i was told to wait until the following monday or the doctor will place me on a section 3. night staff are atrocious. supposed to be checked on 48 times during the night shift. some nights i was checked on 5 times maximum.

So many positive experiences but also an equal number of negative experiences. Could be such a great hospital if they listened to the patients and provided therapy. Only prescribed medication here however, when the medication they prescribe aggravates your conditions this doesn't help. I will say there are some amazing staff ! This hospital did save my life!

if i could give the priory preston 0 star, or less, then i would. i was on bartle ward and it was absolutely shocking. the staff were abusive (shoutout to phil the nurse was yelling at me mid feed telling me i wasn’t trying and i’d be there for years) and threatening (thanks angela for threatening me with restraint at any given opportunity) and just quite frankly useless. they offered no therapeutic support and it was quite frankly so traumatic, i still have nightmares of the treatment i receive there. staff are unsupportive and made me worse! in the 4 months i was there, i never left the grounds other than a trip to general hospital. they nearly killed me by not monitoring refeeding syndrome and so i ended up spending time in general getting iv replacement. i am not entirely sure how i got out of there alive because their treatment was atrocious. they also caused me extensive and bruising and injuries from excessive restraint. i don’t think that 8+ grown adults is needed for a little anorexic 18 year old - do you? they also would restraint me straight onto the floor which 1. is against the general code of practice, 2. really painful and 3. very dangerous! especially when inserting ng tubes. i think this unit should be shut down before it nearly or actually kills someone else. 0/10 wouldn’t get sectioned here again, although maybe i would as i’d likely die quite quickly due to their maltreatment and medical misconduct and negligence xxx
