In one of my lines of work. The one thing so many people say is regarding the Samaritans is " They really listen " and that is no mean feat when friend and family don't or can't or won't or think they do but are not... I know so many people who have them on their phone if they call them just once every few years with a trauma condition or going through some life event .... and say it really helps just to get a stranger to listen to you for a bit. It seems an invaluable service... not to turn around a potential suicide at every call but to make people feel human , valued and listened to just for a bit sometimes is all it takes. I have only ever heard really wonderful things about The Samaritans ... and from being in room with people calling them first hand or down the hall from the office. I value what these people do. They make more of a difference than they think as I see the people after they have called.

Beautiful charity supporting people across the UK. I would highly recommend volunteering in this charity to anyone who has a passion for helping others and a friendly ear.
