My dad was in Sandown Park for 8 months. I was very happy with the care he received there. The home is well run and is kept very clean & secure as you would want. If I had another elderly relative in need of care, I would be happy to use Sandown Park again.

My mum was in this care home for nearly two years. I only ever witnessed a high level of care and compassion. All of the staff, especially when you appreciate what they do, were always friendly and helpful. The receptionist Carole, and the centre manager Shahzad were at hand whenever needed. These people have to deal with demanding residents, some of who can be abusive and spiteful. This is due to their mental and physical conditions, nobody's fault. I have seen reviews from people on here who don't understand this, and that is unfair. The old gentleman in some reviews was constantly calling out for help and needed firm handling, that is due to his condition. When you treat the staff as fellow human beings, maybe then you will start to appreciate them more.

Cannot recommend the care and compassion shown to residents at Sandown park nursing home enough. My elderly aunt is very settled and content here and I am made very welcome by staff each time I visit. Well deserved outstanding CQC rating

Utterly devastated by the way I was spoken to by a member of staff when trying to make contact with an elderly uncle. If that’s how they deal with relatives on the phone, I dread to think how they deal with residents.
We were informed previously that he couldn’t take calls in his room due to signal problems, however when calling the home this week, they advised I could now have a video call with him - I was over the moon and arranged one for the next day. The call never came through so I rang the home 3 times to see if all was ok. On my third call I was informed that they didn’t bother ringing me, as my uncle still can’t have calls and a video appointment should not have been offered. Understandably I was upset, I appreciated the technical issues but it was still upsetting as I thought I could finally speak with him.
I was then asked why I have not attempted to visit since last Christmas and told that clearly I didn’t care about seeing him all year, so I shouldn’t be upset at not being able to speak to him now. I put the phone down in tears. I shouldn’t have to explain that I am battling comorbid disabilities, have a 220mile round trip and Covid-19 with visitors having not been allowed for the best part of the year. Dreadful way of dealing with the situation.

Carers can be good and compasionate is the only positive point,
Unfortunately alot of senior staff think they are a law unto theirselves and have no clue.
Trying to take someone home from here can be exhausting as they try to refuse and offer lame excuses, dont seem to have empathy and one male in particular is very up himself and antagonist to say the least.

Absolutely disgusted in this situation witnessed a staff member abuse and elderly gentleman to the point he was shouting help and the police had to be called to the home!! Thoroughly disgusted in this situation definitely would NOT recommend!!!!!

I live next door, often hear shouting and have witnessed a very fragile and elderly gentleman get assaulted by a member of staff and when I went to the home to confront staff I got laughed at. Police attended. DO NOT USE THIS CARE HOME!!!!
