My family recently volunteered at Sebby’s Corner and it was an amazing experience. My kids couldn’t believe the variety of toys, games and clothes that were available - they kept asking me “is it really free for all these families?”
What you’re providing is the most incredible gift for vulnerable families and I’m so glad we got to be a small part of what you’re doing every day to support those who would otherwise have to go without.

This vital charity has helped so many people in such a short space of time. It’s wonderful to see how it has grown and responded to the needs of service users The hub is an incredible place. Me and my daughters have really enjoyed volunteering here, packing up essentials and sorting through donations.

Hello ,
I was in need and had been struggling financially. I got quite disappointed and upset after visiting . I chose the option of going and picking stuff my self rather than collecting a pack ( reason being I do not want everything and also that I could pick sizes and pick what my children would like ) . I'm sure most people who visit here , is because they are in need not greed .The lady who there to help her name was Marguerite. I was very upset because whatever I needed she said they do not have it ( I asked for uniform , which I needed badly she said she couldn't give me any .
2. I asked for kids pyjamas she said there aren't any .
3 I asked for towels and bedding , she said they didn't have them .
4. I asked for stationary, school bags , lunch bags , her reply was a No.
5. I asked for toys she hardly gave me any for my 7 year old and the baby .
I was very upset and disappointed, why do you make people fill all the details of what they need in the form , when you do not provide them .
We come here out of need not greed , had to wait 2 months for this appointment .Thing that really struck me was the discrimination that I felt from Marguerite, I wanted to pick the toiletries but she did herself and did not even show me , I asked her did you put for us everything she said yes . I wanted to pick myself the ones I wanted , that's what I was there for or do we not deserve to have good things ?
She had put all asda and tesco toiletries for us .I picked bepanthen nappy cream for my baby , she got me busy to look at the books and I was surprised that she had not put Bepanthen but had put Asda nappy cream.
Kindly look into it as I would not want this to happen to any other family who visit here because of they are in need .

I had been stuck with health so couldn’t get back to you , had to reply to you.
Yes it was my 2 nd time to come and ask and pick the things that I was in need of , I have never and wouldn’t want to be greedy or hoard anything. It is always very hard to get an appointment at Sebby’s . The first time when I visited was last year in November 2023 , when a family support work brought me with her as my child was undergoing cancer treatment and was admitted at Barnet hospital that time . We were in really hot waters . Nobody comes out of pleasure or greed it is their circumstances that they come to you in need . My first experience was very good . I do not remember the name of the lady who assisted me , and she was very kind to me . She helped me to pick the things I needed as I was feeling hesitant . Then my next visit was the Christmas shop . After that I had been in need with things every now and then as when my child had been ill , I was pregnant and had also given birth to a new born . Was financially, mentally and emotionally shattered.
I couldn’t get to visit sebby’s for nearly a year as it is very hard to get anything from your charity and to get an appointment. My support worker told me that it is not easy and that Sebby’s we can’t visit as it isn’t an easy access charity . This time even I had to wait for two months to get an appointment although I was in need of essentials at the time of referral but had to wait two months .
As far as packs are concerned, to be honest I had never gotten any preloved packs from you ever .
There were toiletries from L’Oréal , cowshed and also Childs farm , but the lady marguerite did not give me a chance to choose my self but she had put all from Asda and Tesco in the bag . I felt quite upset and offended , do we not deserve to get any good brands.
At the time of referral I know for sure that the teacher made sure that she mentions that we needed uniform, and back to school essentials which I never got . No lunch bags or boxes , no uniform not even stationary.
The toys you mentioned were not what I asked for.
Charities help beyond not tell or boast about favours conferred.It seemed quite cheap when you mentioned the value of favours given . This is not what a charity should do , to make a family feel degraded. Shame
