A fabulous, warm & friendly community centre that's run by the 'Sherwood Community Association' charity.
It has lovely little cafe and a variety of activities throughout the week for all ages, abilities & interests within the local community.
It's the home of the 'Sherwood Playgroup', a dance school, yoga studio, and a wide range of local non-profit organisations, community groups & small businesses.
The centre also runs its own weekly activity/social event which aims to combat loneliness & isolation and help improve mental & physical well-being. The session is run by a volunteer fitness instructor with all of its proceeds going back into the centre.
There are numerous rooms, of all different sizes, including a large hall, that are available to hire for regular bookings as well as ad hoc events.
The centre also runs many fundraising & social events throughout the year, such as car boot sales, fitness/wellbeing events and an annual Christmas Fayre.

The grounds the centre is located on is really lovely too. It's a Grade 2 listed building, surrounded by beautiful greenery, and steeped in history (they even sometimes run little history tours of the building).
It's got a decent-sized car park, which backs onto a lovely little meadow and woodland area, which is great for walking your dog or just going for a leisurely stroll.

I would highly recommend this place anyone!

It's clean and tidy, inside and outside. Only lovely people permitted. Already walking or driving in from Mansfield Road feels peaceful... like a safe haven for Hobbits and their friends 💖

Great social use centre. Lots of different classes and activities going on. When I'm there the classes on are stained glass, model railway club, martial arts, aerobics and yoga for expectant mothers. Not bad for one night! There's also a very reasonable cafe that's open to the public.
It's all in a large old rough around the edges house with a lot of history which is displayed around the building.

Generally not a very pleasant place really. I’m sure the people that run it are lovely, and that it serves its purpose of ‘community centre’ really quite well. But it’s in dire need of a bit of a facelift.
