Stunning church. The stain class windows are outstanding.

If you are walking into Westerham town from Darent car park you will walk past this church so pop in.

General James Wolfe’s father was vicar at this church. It’s surprising large church for such a small town and illustrates what a wealthy town it was (and is)

This is a medieval parish church worth visiting if you are down that way. I popped in during the hottest part of the day during this week's heatwave just for the cooler temperature. As you walk in you are greeted with the scent that you only find in these historic churches. Thankfully the congregation haven't modernised the interior by ripping out the pews. Don't miss the 14th century staircase enclosed in a wooden tower to the left of the main entrance. It is unusual to find a church open these days outside of the Christian communities worship pattern. The atmosphere is very peaceful and the stillness is there to be appreciated. The conflict in Eukraine was clearly on the hearts of the parishioners at the time I visited.

St. Mary's dates back to the 13th century and is small and beautiful. Exquisite stained glass windows abound. The 14th century staircase to the bell tower is one of only two spiral staircases in England that twist to the left. Worth a visit!

We had been for dinner at a nearby restaurant and came out and heard St Mary the Virgin Church's bells ringing down at the end of their practice evening. So I took this picture of a beautiful building on a perfect evening.
