The Norman Church of St. Peter & St. Paul in Blockley dates from c.1180 but numerous building additions and alterations have been made in later centuries. The 10 bells in the tower form one of the largest peals in the North Cotswolds.
The church is famous and used as 'St Mary's Roman Catholic Church' in the Father Brown television series!

One of the best churches I've ever visited. Unlike a lot of churches, it was open to explore inside, where it is full of interesting history. From the outside the church is exceptionally pretty and it's Cotswold stone glows in the daylight. The church is home to the grave of Winston Churchill's cousin, and the red granite cross of his grave can be easily located to the left of the church entrance.

Walked here from Longborough. Quick whizz outside only for the novelty factor of Father Brown series location & due to lack of time. Cotswold has no shortage of beautiful heritage churches..

If you are a Father Brown fan, you will want to visit this beautiful area again and again. With that said, I finally arrived at this old church in Brockley, built in 1180, from Japan.
It was great to meet someone who lives right next to the church, talk about Season 10, and find out that he loves Father Brown too. I was blessed with the fine weather and was able to spend a blissful time.

I've visited many churches but I don't know if any were as old as this one, over a thousand years old and still looking good. Beautiful stained glass adorns what is otherwise a very simple country church. When visiting churches in the Cotswold's one of the most interesting items, to me, are the lists of all the rectors. This church's list goes back to 855 A.D.

Blockley is the film location of the TV series Father Brown.
The church is a bit of a gem - whilst later periods of architecture have left their mark it's finding the quality workmanship of 12th century parts of the fabric which appealed to me.
