A fabulous historical site. I believe that this Victorian site if about 700 allotment sites is the largest allotment in Europe! People come from all over the world to visit it each year. It is practically a secret, as it can hardly be seen from outsude. Surrounded by built up residential housing in the centre of the busy city of Nottingham, England, it provided 'leisure gardens' for wealthy families as few houses has gardens. Many gardens has small cottages so the families could stay the weekend (even if their houses were only 1/2 mile away). Many gardens had exoensuve greenhouses in which they grew grapes, or even roses out if season. There is now a visitor centre, with toilets! Beware that the site us very hilly, and HUGE!
