Can't fault the service; ok, you may have to wait a while due to the current state of mental health services, but when the comes the service is second to none. I've unfortunately had to make use of their service a couple and each time they've helped me through.

I have had the pleasure of appointments with two therapists from this service and would highly recommend them to anyone in need of professional help.

The communication about waiting times, next appointments and any delays has always been substantive.
The therapy sessions have been in-depth, personal and brimming with knowledge.
The therapists were kind, considerate, compassionate and I have left every session feeling happier and stronger than before I entered.

I have now finished my assigned therapy sessions with them, and feel confident that I have been helped to create a foundation upon which I can build a positive and stable future for myself and my children.

Very poor experience. Sat on a waiting list for 1.5 years.

One I received the service, I had two very poor sessions, where I provided more information and tools to the counsellors for other patients than helping me. After those two sessions, they stood me up for every appointment. I never received any communications regarding missed appointments. I wasted countless weeks waiting for my appointments, each Thursday I’d sit waiting. It was distressing to be forgotten about and ignored repeatedly by a service which is to help my mental health. This made things much worse for my mental health and pushed me to seek a real therapist.

I made a complaint. Making a complaint was the only I heard back from this service. I received a phone call from Adam Grove, the ‘team manager’, who apologised but couldn’t give me a reason as to why my sessions stopped abruptly. He wanted to put me back on the service, without any confirmation or reassurance this wouldn’t happen again.

I cancelled the service. Explained I’d rather pay for a really therapist than go through the stress of this service. Being let down week after week won’t assist anyone’s mental health, let alone during recovery.

I received an extremely sarcastic and unprofessional letter of apology with my name spelt incorrectly and the problem ignored.

IESO service is needed in this area. Too few in steps2change actually care about your mental health. Lincolnshire is the worst place to receive mental health care.

Ive never had an appointment where I feel like I've progressed. One appointment they didn't bother to send me any form of notification and I was on holiday at the time. The fact that I've never been able to reach them myself just adds to the frustration as they call from an "unknown number". On top of the awfully messy appointments, I've missed one appointment after being bed bound for 3 days and I've been discharged after waiting months for an appointment!!! They serve to improve mental health but do the exact opposite. Honestly, if anyone needs help, any of your personal contacts would be much easier than bothering with S2C.

Had a very good experience with therapy. Received treatment for ocd when I was younger and was a given lots of tools to help me cope. I was going to therapy for depression and by the end of it genuinely enjoyed talking to my therapist and looked forward to it. Cannot rate the system high enough

Would not recommend, been waiting months now for any counselling but all I’ve had from steps2change are 2 emails apologising for the delay. I wouldn’t bother starting steps2change because you will probably get more therapy from talking to your pet or maybe even a brick wall because that’s how they made me feel after telling them my issues then not being reached out to after so long.

Months of waiting, just to have 15 minute appointments with what sounds like a student with zero life experience. They are supposed to be half an hour, but time is wasted going over questionnaires or arranging next appointments.
It’s CBT, so basically you can get books or watch YouTube videos that would provide far more help than this service ever will. No need to talk to a patronising “therapist” about your problems that way.
Talking to a complete stranger about your issues, only to to be spoken to in a completely generic, uncaring way, will likely make you feel worse.
I’d advise avoiding steps2change.

I had support through phone calls (due to covid) for months. Every week without fail (unless on holiday) I would have a call from the same person and generally just chat. Some weeks I didn’t want to talk and that was ok. Other weeks we spoke about anything and everything. After listening and trying ways to help I was referred onwards. But I am very thankful we are so lucky to have a service available like this where we can self refer.
