Really nice Abbey in the heart of Polesworth.

Not sure how back the Abbey is dated to; but all the walls and features are so original.

Father Phillip is very nice and has a nice sense of humour.

There is plenty of parking and nice small pathways leading to the town centre.

Fascinating church, much altered over the centuries. I would advise anyone planning a visit to first watch the videos on the website www.polesworthabbey.co.uk . There are already plenty of excellent photos of the church/abbey but I was very lucky in that the vicar, Fr Philip, allowed me to indulge a horological obsession and photograph the Victorian clock. Chimes are via the bells with a clever mechanism to disengage the clock clappers when the bells are inverted for normal peal ringing. An electric winding mechanism for the 3 clock weights has been added more recently.
(Sorry about the poor quality of the clock photos, had to be photographed through glass as Fr Philip didn't have the cabinet keys with him).

The Vicar was charming and delightful. Interesting and fun and of course very knowledgeable. The gardens and surroundings are wonderful. The church is really interesting and given a lovely atmosphere by the low volume music. Very spiritual and peaceful.

A nice church in the centre of town, interesting local history events going back to Saxon times when Tamworth was the capital of Mercia. A peaceful place to sit or wander round and admire the various artefacts and artworks. A very keen team of volunteers who are happy to answer questions or give you a tour.
