Absolutely abhorrent place. I lived there for 3 months, and during this time I was struggling with an eating disorder and self harm, while also struggling with my mental health. I went to the staff on multiple occasions just to be threatened with being kicked out. I was forced out of bed the morning after overdosing, when I felt rough, and made to be around people who made me feel uncomfortable. When I threw up after said incident I was scolded and made to feel worse. Amber doesn’t care about the people who live there, they just take your money and treat you like scum. You’re expected to save to be able to move out, but after I had paid my rent I was left with £17 at the end of every month but if I didn’t pay it I would be kicked out. If you get a job, best believe it’s even harder. You’re better off on the streets or in a tent than you are at Amber. Not to mention the fact we were made to live with p*dophiles who had the police called on them, and they were actively defended by the staff

As many have said this place had helped them I have watched amber house Tare family’s apart.. telling people they have safe guarding issues with someone but then lying towards the family that this person still has causing issues between the only family they have left.. from what I know amber house don’t try to help people move out they keep you in and if your too bad of a kid/adult your thrown out without anywhere to go. Anyone who sleeps in the little huts outside arnt aloud back into the main building at certain time. Oh and if your child self harms more than once they are told they are wasting ambers first aid kit… the manager Sarah seemed nice at first but on hearing what people have gone threw Sarah doesn’t care about the people that come in they all only care about the funding they are getting. Instead of helping this adults with getting jobs they are expected to colour for 2 hours a day and when someone asks can I use this time to look for a job so I can move out they are told that’s not what they want. The amber house I remember helped adults and made sure there needs come first and all compassionate was handed no matter what. This amber is a shambles and needs to be closed down the story’s I have from adults that have lived there will be going to the papers

Amber saved my life. It was both the safety net I needed to fall into, and the springboard I jumped off when I was ready to live independently.
