We stayed at The Coach House as we were attending a wedding nearby, and it was only 5 minutes from the venue. We had asked for an early check in, even just to get the key and drop our bags as the wedding started at 12. When we arrived the room was completely ready which was fab. The guy at the front desk was very welcoming and explained all we needed to know and how to get back in once the main door was closed at night. The room itself was lovely, basic but that’s all we needed for the night, the bed was also very comfortable and we slept well. The en-suite was a good size and had a shower. The tv had a really good range of channels so that was good to chill out once we got back from the wedding. The next day we went for breakfast in the restaurant and the girl who was serving was so so lovely! I got the scrambled eggs on toast and a coffee and my husband got the full English. We both really enjoyed the food and my eggs were perfectly done. Whilst we waited for our taxi in the morning (to go get our car from the venue) the girl who was at breakfast was chatting to us and was telling us all about the area so that was really nice. Overall, we had a very nice stay and would 100% stay again.

We stayed to attend a friend's wedding in the area. The room was small but clean and had everything you needed. Unfortunately it snowed really badly over night and we were stuck to get home. We were able to extend our stay by 6 hours at no extra changed until the roads were clear, a kind act that we will never forget. Staff couldn't have done more for us, providing toast when we were unable to get the local shop for food.

Do not stay at this hotel in low season as the place is basically shut down. We were there in late September and we were the only guests. The restaurant was shut and the only staff at the reception left for the night . We were told to enter by a side door which was kept open. It felt like being in a ghost hotel, especially since it faces an abandoned building with broken windows. To be fair , the room was clean but small and the attendant at the reception was nice and helpful.

My boyfriend and I were really impressed with the Coach House in Otterburn. It’s in a beautiful location and the inside of the hotel is very nicely decorated and was immaculately clean. We stayed in room 10 which was a very pleasant ground-floor room just off the main dining area. The bed was comfy, the bathroom spacious and most importantly, the room was kept lovely and clean. Food in the hotel was absolutely delicious and was to be commended. We both had leek & potato soup to start, followed by cod, and both were fresh-tasting and worthy of any fine dining restaurant anywhere. For breakfast the next day we had scrambled egg and smoked salmon on sourdough and this was just as nice, along with a good range of cereals and yoghurt that we helped ourselves to. Lastly, the service we received at check-in and while dining in the restaurant was brilliant. Amy was lovely and made us feel very welcome, as was the young man who was also serving whose name I unfortunately didn’t get. They are both an asset to the place. I’d highly recommend the Coach House and look forward to coming back sometime.

I need to start of by saying the young man at reception who also ran the bar & cooked breakfast was exceptional. Really polite and very welcoming. We booked in as we were attending a wedding 3 miles away.
Now for the negative with the Coach House.
The room was tired carpet needs aqua vacuming. The curtain hanging of its rail. The bathroom was equally tired and in need of a full refurbishment.
It was somewhat surreal to be told no one would be onsite during the night which my wife found quite concerning .
The view from the room was onto what was once a very grand building called Otterburn Hall which sadly was in a shocking state of dereliction. Not really what you would expect.
We unfortunately wouldn't revisit or recommend The Coach House and would caution anyone who might be considering making a booking.
I'm somewhat disappointed at the initial reviews which gave The Coach House very good reviews. Buyer Beware.

I thought that I wanted to stay here and have telephoned 5 times and have only succeeded in reaching someone 3 times. He says he is unable to help me but will ring back in 5 minutes. Mouthing. I did manage to find out from him that someone would be there at 4 p.m. Nothing again.

We stayed for two nights on bank holiday weekend 2024. The hotel was lovely and staff were brilliant. Food was delicious. Unfortunately we only had one complaint. We went out on Sunday for the day as we knew we could not eat at hotel. When we returned to the hotel we were shocked to find we were locked out. Seemingly there is a way in but we were not told about it. We tried to ring but got an ansaphone, seemingly you have to ring the bell to get in. we eventually got in and member of staff told us that the hotel was closed today. We came back hoping to have a drink in the bar but the lad said I can get you a drink but I will be going soon, so we were quite shocked that there would be no one in the hotel that evening. I was quite rattled that there was no staff on and we were there on our own. This was extremely disappointing on a bank holiday to find the hotel closed and locked with us inside. I think this should be explained on the website.

We stayed 1 night for family wedding that was happening nearby. Paul was fantastic in the lead up to our stay but surpassed our expectations when we were there. We arrived a lot earlier than check in but we're able to gain access to our rooms to get changed into our wedding outfits and leave our bags. I had prebooked a local taxi to take us to the wedding venue which never showed up and no calls were answered. I asked for Paul's advice for another taxi company and he drove us there himself and wouldn't accept any payment. On the way he called another taxi company to check their availability so we could get back to the Coach House at night. Honestly, this was the best Customer Service we have had for a long time and we are very appreciative. Breakfast and the 2 other members of staff were also fantastic. Thank you very much
