Being able to buy items and get advice about what my senior father and mother might need to help with their mobility has been priceless! For a few pounds you can get items that I didn’t know even existed without having to wait for outside help/advice. Keep up the good work.

I have a number of serious, life threatening conditions. I first encountered the Disability Resource Centre (DRC) when I was given a PHB (Personal Health Budget). I'm so grateful to the Continuing Health Care Team for this. I was introduced to the Disability Resource Centre (Bedford) about 4/5 years ago when they started a Direct Payment Service for PHB holders. (I am so sorry about all the abbreviations folks). Jon Wallis and his team provided a person centred, exemplary service. I upgraded to a silver service for my payroll function through DRC so that I didn't have to touch the online 'Brightpay' payroll function. I sent in a time sheet for my staff's hours every month and Jon and his team sent me payslips in return every month with a usual 10 day to two week time cushion. I need the time cushion because I can end up in hospital at any time and I can be kept in for any amount of time too. Organising bank transfers with lots of time to spare is essential so I don't have to worry. This month there was no time sheet, one response which fixed nothing and when I spoke to the new payroll person they were dishonest. That person claimed I had hung up whereas I clearly stated I had to get off line to deal with a health situation. It was a serious health concern and immediate too. I had already stated I found things easier to follow through e-mail. It's something my personal assistants can help me with and something I can go back to if it's written down. None of this was followed by DRC senior staff. I am upset and frankly disgusted by the way I have been treated. Avoid this service if you can.

This center provides training for Trainee Carers, their employers and to novices on all sectors of the care industry. Dementia, first aid, moving and handling and much more. The courses are short courses but very informative. The staff are extremely helpful and caring to meet your needs.

Helpful staff. The most comprehensive resource for information - for all aspects of disability. Am very glad to see the focus on mental health has increased to be on par with physical disabilities. This place may just be my saviour. A shining gem in the community.
