Honestly if i could give this school 0 stars i would. The SLT here is a nightmare they dont care about us at all. Theyre more focused on locking up the toilets and controlling every little thing we do than actually helping students. They lock the toilets all the time and when they do open them at break or lunch its just full of people vaping and messing around. But instead of dealing with real issues like that theyre quick to yell at us for random stuff that doesnt even matter.

Theyre so obsessed with pointless rules theres no freedom here at all. And they dont care at all about students who struggle. If you have mental health issues or ADHD dont expect any help from this place. They dont know how to handle anything that isnt just strict rules and control. Theres no support for students who actually need it its like they only know how to punish us instead of helping.

And then theres Miss Moore… shes one of the worst teachers ive ever met. Shes rude shes impatient and she clearly doesnt care about students who are struggling. Instead of helping she just talks down to everyone and makes us feel like were not worth her time. Its so hard to even try to keep up when shes just making everything more stressful.

Honestly if youre thinking of coming here or sending your kid here dont. Theres no support no understanding and no one cares if students have issues theyre trying to work through. They just want us to follow rules and be quiet no matter what were dealing with. This school is a miserable place and no one should have to go through this.

This school is so badly run with a Dickensian attitude to mental health and punishment. One teacher thinks it’s acceptable to slam doors and shout into the face of a child with severe ADHD, then punish the child for this privilege. The school has had a copy of the official diagnosis, but it’s not their policy to accept this and ignore the recommendations as they feel they know better than trained professionals. As a parent/guardian it is impossible to talk to anyone as when you phone you are always promised a call back that never happens. I would not recommend this school to anyone. Teaching is about our children’s welfare and training our future adults, some teachers here set a terrible terrible example

If I could it would be a 0 but I’m a current Yr 11 in the school and everytime I see this one teacher she has a go at me for no reason and also decides to send you to the college office in her words “to sort your attitude out” in reality she should be the one to reflect on her actions and the way she treats the students of the hundred of Hoo. This school also doesn’t think that mental health is a real thing and I have been suffering a lot lately due to exams and don’t need the stress of her.

I went to this 'Academy' for many years and I feel that while the school definitely improved during my time there, there were still many issues that were left unresolved for many students in my age group.

I say this because I was generally a very good student that kept quiet, did the work and deserved respect in return for the respect that I gave to staff without question.

However, as I moved into year 10 and became more self-aware, I began to feel that the leaders of the school did not have our best interests at heart.

For example, when it came to picking options, we were given only one option (which is definitely less than students usually got) and in my case was made to do triple science for my GCSE exams which I had no interest or aptitude in. This was all down to some sort of 'pathway' system the school had devised for us, with no input from the students or their parents whatsoever. There was little I could do about this and it frustrated me to no end.

In addition, as exam times drew closer I was constantly hearing all about 'expectations' and ''statistics', as if our personal successes were unimportant and it was all about the teachers getting a pay rise at the end of the year or something.

Overall, most of the staff are good at their jobs, the facilities are agreeable and there are some really decent teachers here. However, I think the leadership should re-evaluate what is important in a school experience and do more to actually motivate students to do well, rather than senselessly pressure them when things seem to be getting more and more difficult for students as the years go by.

I'd say consider to any prospective students, as well as their parents to consider the options carefully because there are many secondary schools in the Medway area, and it seems like a risk to attend Hoo Academy, but I will admit that I am biased because of my personal experiences.

I'm sure there might be better elsewhere, but it should suffice for a standard education that will take students through to Sixth Form, College or whatever it is they are aiming for without too much trouble at the very least.

Worst school going I don't even care. Always dreaded going here in the morning. Much better off at UTC. Not only that, the teachers are able to teach and don't have favourites?
